A quick update.

Decided to drop the RB in for a test fit. I ended up leaving the clutch out, so the engine/transmission went together real easy. This was more of a dry run to see WTF .

Got a little ahead of myself and left the shifter on. Quick snap ring removal, shifter out, and I was on my way.

Ta-Da!

Gotta hand it to the guys at Mckinney, they know there stuff. Thanks Mack!

Shifter even lines up!

That's it for now. Got to jump on a plane headed for Dallas.

Quick update.

I got the supports for the brake/clutch master cylinders made and installed.

Not too bad of a welding job. Not the best looking, but really strong.

Here it is with the pedal bracket removed. I made it so the whole pedal assembly can be dropped out the bottom and the support left in the car. Might come in handy . I plan on using the remote resevoir so there is plenty of room for those remote fittings.

Lots of room up here now.

Before

And after

Nice I plan on going with the same brake/clutch setup with my car. Can't wait to see this one finished.

I've been considdering the new pedals wiht dual masters as well (but I was gonna run forward masters) I just can't get my head around how the pedals @" to the left would feel, I thought the stock pedals felt natural

so what bore diameters are you going with on the masters?

Also, what are you going to do with that surfboard and rack, if you haven't already junked it?

Still got the board and rack. Hansen board, Gerry Lopez signature series. It needs work. I'll get to it.

Funny thing about that. I tried splitting the pedals on either side of the steer column, but there was little or no room for my foot to be only on the gas pedal (unless I wear the pumps, but we won't go there). It had to be left of center column. I think it is what you get used to, and I can learn. I think the heal/toe technique is easily possable as long as the gas pedal isn't too far away.

I have the 7/8" bore for the brakes and 3/4" for the clutch. Lots of research done and I should be good. Worst case is that I have to get bigger bore and those can easily be swapped out. The cool thing is I can play around and get the pressure/bias/feel perfect with this sort of setup.

you are running 2 7/8 master for the brakes!? you are gonna have a heavy rear bias to tune out, so I guess you are gonna run a prop valve i conjunction wiht the ballance bar?

That oil pan looks gorgeous....so when you say the Z31 pan do you mean the factory 84-89 300ZX oil pan fits the RB26? Is there some fab work needed???

Japanese domestic market (JDM) Z31 was the 200Z and you could get it with a RB20DET engine. It was the marketed as the 200ZR. It had a rear sump oil pan that will fit on the RB26. The oil pickup works too. It was the pan of choice for swappers because it was cheap and available.

I wanted black or Laguna Sega Blue. I am finding them both a little over done and starting to get confused on the color. I'll figure something out.

From what I have read, the master bore diameter should be based on the number and diameter of the brake caliper pistons (displacement). This should be evenly balanced so the same stroke (front and rear master) should engage the brake pads at aprox the same time. After this happens, the bias adjustment in the pedal setup will increase the "FORCE" then applied to the pads. I should be OK with the 7/8". I'll let you know after turn 1

ummmm...no, you can email tilton your car specs, weight, pistons # and size and they'll tell you what diameters you should be running, generally the rear culinder is gonna be smaller, with your setup your rears are gonna lock up even with the ballance bar adjusted all the way out

Mmmmmm Maybe. What rear brakes am I going with? What size diameter rotor? What are the number of pistons and diameter? What is the brake pad composition?

Lots of variables. I agree that the balance bar is for fine tuning. I got the tables for "caliper piston displacement/master cylinder size" based on caliper type, calipers per master cylinder, piston diameter, number of pistons per caliper and everything indicates I should be in the ballpark. The cool thing with this setup is that it is adjustable. I should be able to swap out masters as well.

try running the 13" rotor w/ 6 piston setup from arizonazcar up front and their 12.2" rotor w/ 4 piston caliper in back. i would think that would fix having the same size master for front and rear
