A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Hi All,

We have had a 2008 Sentra for about a week...and just noticed that the "Lock" icon on the drivers side door illuminates..but the "Unlock" icon does not. On the passenger side, neither illuminates. The manual does not refer to which lock/unlock icons all should be illuminated, and which should not..if any...

So...we are just wondering is this the standard for all 2007/2008 Sentra's...or do we have a malfunction?

It is a 2.0 S with CVT and convenience package...

Just be happy there's a light my 2007 doesn't have one.

I should be happy that it has a light. Ok. I am.

That cleared up, does anyone have an answer to my question?

I thought that answered your question. It's normal you get that light because in the previous year there were none so you have to feel around for the switch. So the passenger side not getting one that's also normal. As far as I know.

Thanks for explaining. I wasn't sure if the "Unlock" icon should be lit up as well on the drivers side..along with no light at all on the passenger side.

I just wasn't sure why the drivers side "Lock" icon would have a light..but "Unlock" would not..especially since they are right next to each other...one would think the same bulb could light both.

If that is normal...along with the passenger side being totally unlit, not an issue. I just wanted to make sure that there was no malfunction.

This is how the switch was designed, us Versa owners have the same switch. Nissan's thought was that if you can find the "lock" icon, it wouldn't take much to find the "unlock" icon.

And for the 07 sentra they thought we should be like WW2 submariners being able to use all the switches on the car in the dark. I kid but even the Toyota Camry my sister has doesn't have a passenger side light. While in our old old 97 Explorer they have lights for all the switches on all the doors. Talk about Japanese having better design eh?
