First of all, I have to say, after reading thru the posts on this forum, I'm excited to see what you all can come up with as an answer to my question. You all see very helpful, polite (which sometimes you don't see on car forums), with just the right level of humor. I appreciate that very, very much.

So on to my question...

My fiance is the proud owner (very, very proud... loves the car) of an '07 Nissan Sentra S. Just recently, she's noticed that her odometer will, on occasion, display what appear to be a string of small zeros or O's, and then return to the standard mileage display. I'm wondering if this is the normal "boot" behavior of the odometer, or is it out of the ordinary? I know my car has a "boot" behavior of saying Hello to me ('06 Mazda 3), so perhaps hers does, too? It could be that this has been happening the whole time (she's had her car for < 4 months), and we just didn't know it.

Fortunately, there are no adverse behaviors showing up in relation to the above "issue". The car drives / rides / performs like a dream. We just want to make sure there's nothing to worry about.

Thank you all in advance!!!

While I honestly have no idea why it would be doing that, it seems pretty cool to me. Oh, and if your fiancee loves spec-v's, you've got a keeper. My fiancee hates mine because she doesn't want to learn how to drive a manual.

Hey. I think something might be wrong with the instrument panel dimmer switch. Its the button you press to reset the mileage for the a and b trip meter. You turn it to adjust the brightness of the panel lights and radio screen. I had such a hard time finding out about this becuause I never read the manual. It shows the 0s to represent the current brightness. When its all the way up it shows about 8 zeros. Im thinking maybe the switch is faulty and whenever you drive or hit a bump its contacting and making the brightness display come up.

That sounds completely plausible. I'll play around with it tonight when she gets home from work and see if I can "recreate" the issue by lightly nudging the control. If that is the problem, that would be GREAT, since it's just a silly little thing, and the car is only a few months old. I'll keep you guys posted on this!

And BTW, thank you all for living up to my expectations. This is a killer forum! THANK YOU!
