I guess there is a limit to the numbe of titles the compact flash will accept. I have a 16GB compact flash card loaded with about 1900 songs, but only a small portion of the songs are listed in the display. To be exact I think it is 512 songs, which I guess makes sense if you choose to view Voice Recognition Help for Compact Flash voice commands - it has number limits for folders and songs. Now the question I have is - Is this truly a technical limit or some arbitrary and artificial limit Infiniti has imposed? Is there any way to override this limitation so I can take full advantage of my 16GB flash card?

I may have a partial reason that your flash didn't show all the songs. If your songs are in any format other than wma or mp3, they wont be recognized or listed. I have most of my songs in Itunes using Apple's proprietary format AAC, and most of my 5300 songs from Itunes wont play

512 is equal to 2 to the 9th power. This sounds like the Inifinity unit's OS limits to me.

I don't think the limitation has anything to do with file size, meaning the size of the CD card is irrelevant. If your 2GB CF card holds more than 512 songs, then it won't play all of them. If it holds 512 or less it will play all of them. Regarding searching, I am not sure you can search the CF cards. You also can't have folders with sub-folders. If you do, it will just display the sub-folders as if they were at the same level as the parent folder. If you don't place songs in any folder, then the display shows a folder labeled "Root Folder".

I am going to switch to a 2GB CF card because my songs average about 5MB each, which should get me about 400 songs. I can get another 120 songs or so on an MP3 CD. It would have been really nice if the trunk mounted 6-disc changer supported MP3 CDs. I was very disappointed when I found out it didn't.

Alternatively, it would have been nice if they included a DVD player that could read MP3 DVDs.

The last challenge is figuring out how to make use of the 9GB hard drive without having to rip CDs all over again and sitting in my car for hours and hours.

I ran into that problem, and I found this in the 2007 G35 manual:

-----With navigation system:Folder levels: 8, Folders: 255 (including root folder), Files:512 (Max. 255 files for one folder)

Without navigation system:Folder levels: 8, Folders and files: 999 (Max. 255 files forone folder)-----

This is the limitation with MP3 CDs and CF cards. I'm not sure why there's a lower limit for cars with the Nav system.
