2004 Altima with 124 K miles. The heater first blew hot air while the car was being given gas and cold air while at idle. Now the heater blows cold air. The coolant is full. The coolant is the orginal and never has been changed. The temp gage starts out cold and end in the middle between hot and cold. What do you think it is and how hard is it to fix myself?

It's probably a clogged heater core.

you have air trapped in the heater core. real question to ask is how did it get in. i have been replacing a lot of 2.5 head gaskets lately on altimas and setras over 70k miles.
