Happy 2012 everyone!

First time here and am hoping someone could help me out with an issue I just had with my 2003 G35 sedan. I just got the water pump replaced and after driving only about 15 minutes on the way to dinner last night here in San Diego, my car died while stopped at a red light. I was able to start the car back up but noticed the temperature gauge acting funny - it crept up about to the 3/4 mark towards H (I have never had it go above midline since I've had the car).

The auto shop I took the car to get the water pump replaced had a hard time bleeding the air (dropped the car off first thing in the morning and didn't get it back until 9 pm that day). After calling them back last night, they think that there is still an air bubble in the system. If anyone has had this same problem, would love to hear about it, as well as if their problem was also fixed and how.

Thanks!

I never had it stall on me but it could have gone into limp mode. Do NOT drive your car if it starts to overheat....You will end up with a very expensive problem. If you think you might still have air in the system you can try this. If possible park on a slant with the front of the car on the high end of the slant. Fill your coolant resevoir and your radiator. Then with the cap of the radiator off you want to run your car for a while.....at least until it heats to regular operating temp...This should help get more air out. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip! I'm having the car taken back in tomorrow to check that out as well as the MAF. Hopefully will know more tomorrow. Up to now, the car had been running great so I'm hoping that this is just a minor air bubble issue and not a more serious problem

Yeah, sounds like you may have air in the system. Otherwise, is it throwing any codes?

Ok, to update - mechanic purged the air bubble but car shut down again but this time with an error code that the battery wasn't charging so replaced battery. Road tested again and car shut down again, this second time the codes for cam sensors popped so those were replaced. After that, the car now seems to be running like its old self again.

I guess that after 100K miles, the cam sensors are worth looking into as the auto shop owner mentioned he also had a similar problem with his Altima.
