I've searched the forum but haven't found anything about my situation. So I will post and hope that a tech or any other members on this site can help.

My SAT button on the radio does nothing. It doesnt even say "NO SAT". I'm pretty sure its supposed to say something if you dont have the tuner installed (I dont have a tuner), but please correct me if I am wrong. Most people who don't have the sat tuner will get the "NO SAT" or "SAT NOT INSTALLED" message on their head unit.

I have gone through the service manual and ran a self-diagnosis on the head unit. In mode 3, I can push the sat button and get the "34 2E". I then looked at mode 4 and there were no errors for all items.

I am discussing this because I want to install AUX inputs so I have been trying to get my aux adapter(PAC AAI-NIS2) to work. I installed it, but the SAT button still doesn't do anything.

Does anyboday have any suggestions, please help.

Do you use your SAT button for anything, like and AUX input?

That is what I am trying to do, but the SAT button does nothing even after I installed the AUX adapter.

I've actually tried to figure this issue out myself as I'd like to integrate a carputer into the stock stereo, but I'm still a little lost about how to go about doing this.

I started a thread in the NICO Car Audio Forum and got some answers, but nothing concrete.

Looks like you found it too.

In-car computing is sweet. I have a computer system installed right now. I am using the tape deck adapter to get the sound out of my car speakers. It works good, but I know if i get an AUX input it'll be a little better.

To get aux inputs you'll need a PAC AAI-NIS2, it works for these vehicles:

NISSAN:2005-2006 Altima 2004-2006 Armada 2004-2006 350Z (factory Bose system only) 2005-2006 Frontier 2004-2007 Maxima 2003-2008 Murano 2003-2006 Pathfinder 2004-2006 Titan 2005-2006 Quest

INFINITI2004-2007 FX35 2004-2007 FX45 2003-2007 G35 (Coupe only) 2003-2006 G35 (Sedan only) 2006-2007 M35/M45 2004-2006 QX56

I bought one, installed it, but my sat button still didn't do anything. So me being impatient bought another one, and installed it. Sadly, I got the same result. So most likey both units are working, that means its something I am doing wrong.

I've posted in other forums and people are like it should work regardless of if it says "NO SAT" or "SAT NOT INSTALLED" before you install it. For me it hasn't worked. I can sell/send you my extra one for dirt cheap if you wanna try it out. Maybe it'll work in your car that way I know there is hope for me.

This is very tempting.

Do you have any info as to whether there were different models for the coupe versus sedan? I noticed that the list says "Coupe Only" and "Sedan Only".

You have a Sedan. I have a Coupe. Could be a problem.

I'll also have to look into what I plan on hooking up. I haven't had the time to actually build a small form factor rig for the car yet because it's been more of a wish than a reality.

According the PAC website its says it fits your vehicle.

"it's been more of a wish than a reality"

That exactly what I was saying to myself, but now I am extremely happy I did. To do a car computer project I suggest you do alot of reading to understand the basics of a project. If you havent been to this website you should go. It is mp3car.com and go to their forums. I have a couple of posts there with pics of my install. Good luck and feel free to ask me any questions about anything.

I've built a computer from scratch before, so that's not so much an issue. The issue is that I haven't kept up with technology trends.

Thanks for the website. I came across it while searching for case and screen suggestions.

If I may ask, how much did you end up spending on the project and what do you have?

I'd like to eventually do this for both my car and my wife's as our music library is very large and swapping CDs is a pain.

This is interesting, mine doesn't do anything either. I just assumed it was because nothing was hooked up to the port. I just checked the factory bulletin for installing the satellite radio and nowhere does it mention anything about the head unit. Just plug and play.

I cant remember how much I spent exactly. The screen was the most expensive part ( around $450), the computer I put together my self and bought all the parts online( about $300), two auxilary adapters ( $170ish). For my car specifically I bought a custom housing kit that cost me ($350). Then you think about additional costs like wires and what not ( $100). I did all the labor myself so I dont know how much labor costs. Together I probably spent around 1400 dollars, but this was about two years ago. prices probably have changed. Now that I look at it 1400 is alot, i probably could have saved money in alot of places. However compared to aftermarket computer system, mine is still relatively cheap. Oh well, I dont one bit regret installing the system.

carputer components:

xenarc 700tsvvia epia mirco atx 1.2 ghz processorwin xp with Incar Terminal frontend60 GB hardrive256 MB ram ( maybe 512 MB i cant remember)USB HUBUSB bluetoothUSB GPS

Factory bulletin? where do you check this stuff?

I think there is no mention of the head unit, because some 2003 models that were produced after a certain date were fitted with a wire harness that plugs into the back of the headunit. The open end of the wire was hidden in the trunk. This way when a customer wanted satellite radio, infiniti techs would have an easy time installing the sat tuner.

If the car was not "prewired" with this harness, then the techs would have to pull apart the dash and work behind the head unit.

As for the button doing nothing, that is what i'm trying to figure out because I also assumed it did nothing because I dont have a tuner. Some people claim that their headunit will say "NO SAT" if the tuner is not installed. In my case my car is Prewired and the tuner is not installed. I know I am pre wired because i checked it with my vin number, and I pulled the dash apart during my carputer install. Sure enough behind the head unit was a wire plugged into the 12-pin sat connector.

Do you currently use the SAT button for anything, say an AUX input?

Infiniti of Scottsdale posted a PDF file on installation of the satellite radio from the factory on their parts store, http://www.everythingg35.com

I actually I take my comment back about it not doing anything. On the 06, to get to satellite radio, its under the radio button like AM, FM1, FM2, FM3, SAT1, SAT2. Since it isn't installed, it just cycles through the regular radio frequencies.

No, I don't have anything installed there.
