REcently I have had an intermittent problem with one of the remote controls for my 02 Q45. The second remote seems to work correctly every time. I have had it into the Infiniti dealer three times and they can't find the problem because the remote works correctly as often as it malfunctions. They have already changed out the computer that controls the car's functions related to the remote but it had no effect on the problem. When the remote is working correctly it behaves just like the second one and all functions operate as they should. When it malfunctions it will not control the doors, trunk, or emergency flasher. It will operate the ignition once I use the key to get into the car. When the remote is working correctly the red LED turns on solid for a second each time I depress one of the buttons. When it is not working the LED appears to flicker when the buttons are depressed rather than come on solidly. That's the only visible symptom of the problem in addition to not being able to control the doors, etc.

If anyone has experienced a similar problem or has an idea of what the problem could be I would appreciate any inputs that I could pass on to the dealer service technicians since they don't appear to be making any progress in locating or eliminating the problem.

Thanks for any help.

if you told them your remotes light acted up when the problem was present they should have replaced the remote. its obviously the problem here. i assume you are reffering to the intella key remote right? if its under warrenty just go in and tell them you need to have it replaced because its malfunctioning intermittenly and you know its the remote cause the light on it flickers. that light is soley operated by the remote the car has nothing to do with it.

That's exactly what happened. I took it to Infiniti again and they kept the car for two days until they were able to reproduce the problem at the dealer. They were not able to determine the cause of the problem but they did give me two new remotes to replace the original pair. So far the new remotes are functioning correctly. On the whole I was very satisfied with the way they handled the problem.
