I need some help. I got the 02 q45, you know during the heat everything good. The only problem I have now is the power steering on cold startups this winter. I get the growl from the power steering pump. I just let it warm up and it goes away after it heats up. I know fluid is hard to move in the cold, so Is it a o-ring replacement issue because that is what I have heard or a power steering pump replacement issue. Any help would be appreciated

Is it losing fluid?

Typically, that noise during cold weather in an indication of some air in the system. My guess is a failing seal at the inlet hose joint, which should be an o-ring.

Easy fix - Keep us posted!

Vane pumps like the power steering are incredibly simple in design. They can wear out if they have to pump dirty gritty fluid for a long time or are improperly re-assembled (the vanes are directional), but in general the rotating metal bits should last forever.
O-rings and seals will degrade over time, also the output pressure spool valve has to move within a very narrow range in it's bore (think crushed and/or overthick replacement o-rings). If that is not correct, you will not achieve the proper operating pressures. That is additional to what Greg is saying above--as he stated the inlet o-ring is an easy fix and there is no spool piston to worry about.

If you go to www.infinitiservicemanual.com and check out your car's service manual, you'll find the o-rings that AZhitman is referring to on page PS-24. Looking it up at parts.infiniti.usa.com it looks like the part number is 49745-01E00. All of that said, it looks like that's a high pressure hose, so if you have a leak there, I'd think it would be making a pretty big mess. Even a small leak on the high pressure side will usually spray like a pinhole leak in a garden hose when the steering wheel is held on the stop for a few seconds.

If your fluid is below the low line in the cold range, I've found that they'll start growling and chattering at start up - and it's worse when they're cold.

I fixed it. I went on amazon and brought one of those pumps thats suppose to suck the fluid out of the reservoir ( it looks like a grease gun with a silicone tube on the end). I tried to fit it in the hole but it was the same diameter as the hole so as I suck fluid it built negative pressure. After I did that my fluid level went down and I added some transmission dex3 in it and the power steering works perfect. May be some one should make this a sticky.

Follow up to my power steering. Still working good. So I can say it is fixed. Just install a new pressure sensor on the ac low pressure line and add freon and I have AC, it's winter here and cold outside but I am ready for the summer.
