Hey gents, Just replaced my radiator after it split a seam. My SE has 107,000 on it and is a manual, black of course. I couldnt find the coolant drains on the block so I put a hose in the upper radiator hose and put water thru till it ran clear on the lower hose. Did not remove thermostat. Haynes says to remove all drive belts when it doesnt appear necessary. Installed new radiator and filled. Ran engine with heat on high for 30 mins at idle, good normal operating temp but 0 heat, none. What the heck?

You may have air in the system. Did you burp it after adding the coolant? the last radiator flush I did in the 03Q, I had to burp it @ 5 times to get all the air out. Wait fir the engine to cool down then open radiator cap and add coolant as needed.

Wonderful Haynes told me that there was an air outlet bolt on top but gave me photos of a 93. Mine doesnt look like that so I was going to check with you guys. Am going out now, is there anything other than taking the cap off and filling ? Thanks as always for your assistance.

I usually use my Lisle coolant funnel or any other funnel to get the coolant level above your highest coolant hose to make sure all air bublles get out. As well and you may want to jack your front wheel up to help the air bubbles make there way out of the system and up into the funnel. Hold the rpms up alittle and watch the funnel for buble and lower car when you see no more air in system.
