Hey y'all I've got this seemingly simple problem that's been really racking my brain for the past 2 weeks and it has to do with my driver-side front turn signal. I've searched for hours on this forum, my owner's manual, and even the generously provided FSM but I can't seem to figure it out.

As the title states, I can't for the life of me find the little black flasher box in my car. My driver-side turn signal illuminates but doesn't blink with hazards, turn signal, or even unlocking/locking the car which has led me to believe it is a faulty flasher. I did find a post for a '98 Q45 but when I did the instructions in the post yet I couldn't find it at all. The user said according to the FSM it was under the steering wheel after dropping a cover and to the right, pretty much on the stereo.

I am new to this forum and this (perhaps stupidly) is the first car I've ever truly worked on so forgive any ignorance on my part I am still learning. I would very much appreciate any guidance or pointers I could use to find the flasher. Thanks!

Here are some photos of my POV as well from today. Dropped the panel and everything.

EDIT:
No clue if that worked, Imgur is being dumb.

Sounds to me like you might need to replace your your hazard switch. The Q had some interesting features when it came out. One of them being the flasher lights are controlled by the radio, turn signal switch, BCM and Theft protection. Since the bulbs are working fine and the flashers are running smooth. I suggest inspect the wiring coming out the hazard switch and the part itself.

1 thing you could try is making sure power is entering and leaving the hazard switch for both left and right

I see. This does align with the diagnosis provided in the FSM. The wording is strange but to my understanding, it says that failure of the LH or RH indicators could be the result of a bulb in the combination meter or a wire between the hazard switch and combination meter.

Could a faulty wire really cause only one turn signal to not operate? I find it strange that all the bulbs illuminate yet only the LH doesn't flash when turn signal or hazard is activated. But I suppose this is the nature of electrical systems in cars.

Yes, faulty wires can cause things to not work. There are many instances were wires might look ok on the outside but may be cut or corroded internally (under insulation). Like I mentioned, the turn signals are controlled by many different switches in the car not just the hazard or turn signal switch. With that said all wires of turn signal go through the hazards switch. ( this is due to the theft system in the car, if the SRS system detects a crash it makes the hazards go off). Since yours works with turn signal switch I'm sure the hazards switch is damaged or dirty.

The wiring color codes should point you in the direction of the flasher when tracing the conductors through the loom. Page 84 and more of the electrical fsm says alot. The diagrams are great.
