The o2 sensors on my 2000 I30 just went bad (87,000 miles). From reading on here this is a fairly common problem with the I30 at this mileage. I'm a DIY'er and I have already bought the two replacement sensors and plan to install them myself. After looking under the hood, there seems to be three or four different locations of sensors that look similar to the new ones that I purchased from Auto Zone (where i rented the sensor wrench for free), and I'm having a heck of a time figuring out exactly which and where the sensors that I need to change are located at.

If someone could point me in the direction of a diagram or give me some tips on how to change these on a 2000 I30 I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks In Advance,Jeremy

Moved to the Maxima/I30 forum.

Do you know what sensors were bad?

I'm not sure. I had the diagnostic run at Auto Zone and they can only say that it was the 02 sensors. According to them, it was one of two sensors on the car, but they couldn't say which one, so I decided just to go ahead and replace both of them. One was upstream and I can't remember the other.

What are your thoughts?

I looked online and figured out what sensors they are:

at upper left cat.outlet (radiator side)

&

at right header pipeinlet (firewall side)

The one on the radiator side looks pretty simple...should have no problem with that one, but the firewall side looks like it may be a pain.

Any suggestions and/or experience with o2 sensors would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much...

The rachet attachment that you have should be fine to take out both. Just remember to use anti-sieze on the new O2 sensors.
