2 problems with xterra

the overdrive switch in my 03 xterra will not cut off overdrive. i know od works by feeling shifts and tach. i changed switch on shifter. is there an external solinoid that may not be engaging? second ; i changed out stock single cd player for a stock cd/cassette unit out of another xterra. workedfine at first then buttons on unit stoped working. the cd and cassette played but could not control it. was wondering if it had theft codes that needs changing? any ideas?

In regards to the stereo, if an anti theft code was needed, it wouldn't play tapes or cassettes, the unit itself probably took a dump.

As for the transmission, OD is activated inside the valvebody of the transmission. What speeds are you feeling and watching the tach?
