That's a sweet red. She'll look good. I'm thinking more of a black cherry. Like damn near black...but with cherry. Not sure if I want to go metallic or not...

Pearl metallic!

And I'll probably end up doing the jams, ha ha. I was just saying if I have to due to budget constraints, I'd be able to live with it.

how do you like of the s14 chassis in comparison to the s13? also i know it was a while ago but do you recall where you snagged that tranny from and how much, and how does it feel for the age?

I can tell you why the chassis is better from a technical standpoint (better suspension setup, more rigid, better gas tank location, etc), but my S14 is still pretty stock, so I can't compare it to my S13... yet  I picked up the transmission from a local shop. It's still sitting on a pallet in the garage, ha ha.

I need a new tranny. My 4th gear syncro is totally spent.

That sucks man! How'd that happen? What about pulling it apart and doing a rebuild? You could send the gears out for treatment (cryo, shotpeened, wpc), put new synchros in and have a bad-a** transmission :D

Can you find me a rebuild kit? Cause I'll give it a try. I'd prefer that than the dice roll that comes with used goods. I've always wanted to take one apart, but I've never had a place to do it. I finally have the extra space...no more excuses really.

From what I understand, you can use the 5S5R30A transmission kits for the Z32 RS5R30A transmissions as they share the same bearings, synchros, etc. Linked to a kit below:

http://transpartswarehouse.com/index.ph ... 98-on.html

and found this one as well

http://www.onlinetransmissionparts.com/ ... hro/Detail

I would definitely do a little more research to be sure. I actually took apart my first manual transmission a couple weeks ago (FWD SR20 trans), it's a lot easier than I thought. I will be taking my Z trans apart as well to make sure everything is good. If I have the time and money, I may send out the gears for some love as well. I'll be abusing it pretty hard, ha ha.

I haven't started, still working on my G20 swap (need to finish first so I have something to drive, ha ha). I will let you know when I get that one finished up, because I'll have a better idea on a timetable.

I unfortunately won't be able to do any videos on the S13 anytime soon. I haven't started the swap over the the S14 just yet, but I may be able to get it to an event or two before I do so, but not until around May though. I will post it here when I do!

So I finally have another update, although it isn't much of one, lol.

I got my rear subframe back from Fueled Racing today, they welded in gussets and had it powder coated. Waiting on the first batch of Voodoo13 subframe bushings and I'll be re-installing it with all Voodoo13 arms in the rear. Also trying out the Feal 441 RR coils for now. Going to step it up on coils later, just needed to pinch some pennies so I can get other things done for now.

Another small update:

Installed ARP wheel studs in some new 5 lug front hubs. The current hubs are still good, but I wanted to install new bearings and such because the car will see a lot of abuse. This photo just shows the stock studs vs the ARPs.

A small disappointing note: ARP changed the coating on their wheel studs. It used to be a tough coating (I'm guessing CAD plating), but now they are cutting costs and use a thin high wear coating (probably a thin yellow zinc at best), which rubs up very easily. Sad to see the quality go down a bit. The stud itself is still great (I'd assume), but the coating is meh.

Image

Another thing I ordered, but not installing for a bit, is my Radium top feed fuel rail kit with their fuel pulse damper. Over all it looks like a very nice product. A few things I wasn't very thrilled about though. The inner bore is one diameter for the inlet side for half of the fuel rail length. The other side is smaller. In my opinion, it would be better to have a constant inner diameter, at least until you pass all four fuel injector locations, then you could neck it down for the smaller return fitting. In their design, two injectors get one diameter, while two others get a smaller one. Only other downside is that whomever deburred the parts didn't do the best of jobs. Other than that, it's a very nice part, and well made. It also looks pretty awesome!

I bought this because when the S13's SR goes in, I will finally be going top feed injector with an E85 / Flex fuel tune.

I did a quick search on their site, and the staggered bore size isn't mentioned. They could be doing it as a velocity thing. Pressure is the same across the whole rail, but by decreasing bore size, they'll force the velocity to increase. Why they would do that, I don't know. I don't deal with a lot of fluid dynamics stuff. I know enough to sound marginally stupid. :) It could be for reducing fluid oscillations closest to the regulator /shrug.

If it were a smooth transition, I would think they did it for a sound reason, but it's literally a wall inside the bore. So it will cause some turbulence within the rail. It looks to me that they were only able to get a drill so far down and they just used a different dia drill bit on the other side because the other side uses a smaller fitting. If the velocity increases due to a reduction in dia, the pressure will actually drop in a steady state flow with no outside factors. Obviously the fact that there are multiple ports on the side of the "pipe" means other things are going on, lol. I'm working on modeling their rail so I can run some CFD on it. I'm curious what will come of it.

Pic of the subframe with the bushings installed, I'll have to get an installed in the chassis pic later. I was too tired to take a pic, ha ha.

Well, here is an update... Ha ha!

S13 is still running (actually getting it re-tuned today), the S14 prep is taking way longer than I expected!

I did install a new part though! I ordered this beauty a few weeks back:

Radium Engineering Competition catch can
Image

So I did a quick and dirty install on the S13 for now
Image

I've also been running with the local NASA group down here in Arizona. I only have my first event on video at the moment (I posted it elsewhere on here, but since this is the build thread... lol)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54nOAzkd_fA

Working on my second event's video now.

Anyways, that's my update for now. Not much, since I've been working on the S14 mostly.

I finally got some parts back from powder coat! First are my OEM S14 rear lower control arms. I also installed some energy suspension inner bushings and Moog outer ball joints. These will work well until I decide to run adjustable rear lowers.

Image

Next are the Z32 rear dust shields. I know it's silly, but I wanted them to look nice, ha ha.

Image

I have more parts as well, but I need to put them together still, so I'll post them up then!

Other than powder coated parts, I also got my AEM Infinity-6 ECU...

Image

...and Progress front and rear bars as well as an OS Giken 1.5 way LSD.

Made a little progress last night. Torqued down the subframe, installed the RLCAs, traction arms, progress bars, Nismo brace, tension arms, and rear toe arms. Waiting on my RUCAs to come back from powder coating now, and I need to put my Z brake calipers back together again. Going to run Z brakes up front for awhile until the I start pulling apart the S13, then I'll swap those over. When I do that, the front calipers will go on my P10. The rears will stay on the S14 of course.

Here's the rear suspension as of now:
Image

And the front atm. I will be going a different route with the front lowers, so those are only temporary.

Quick Update: So my work (where my car was stored for the past year) is moving locations, so I had to throw my car back together quickly to get it home. I was able to finish up the suspension and rear brakes, but I had to throw back together the OEM front brakes and the dirty old rear open diff to get it home, lol. It's going back up in the air at home so I can keep working on it to get ready for it's first HPDE event in September. That's it for now, lol.

So I finally took the S14 out to the track! Totally different world than the S13, lol. Now instead a ton of power and a crap suspension setup, I have a decent suspension (and tire/brake) setup and a tired stock KA24DE (except for the cat back of course). Car felt fantastic in the corners, but by the end of the half mile straight, I was blasting by at a whopping 95mph ha ha! I was 10 seconds behind the fastest TT1 car (Newer Dodge Viper on fresh hoosiers, maybe an ACR, but not sure) with a 1:14 lap time, which is the only reference I really have unfortunately. I have video which I will post up after I get it edited. Until then, I have a few pictures my brother took. Wish I had better pics, but it's hard to take good ones when you are behind the wheel, lol!

Now I have about two months until the next event. Next event should be my last HPDE4 event, which I will do in the KA24 still so I can get the SR prepped to drop in. Hoping to have the SR in for my start in TT1 at Chuckwalla in Feb.
