Alright guys, I got a '93 n/a 2+2 auto that I've had for a while and I'm ready to plan out what I need for a TT Swap. I have a general idea but would like some input from people that probably know more than I do.

My engine is approaching its time for a rebuild and I finally got a decent job so I figure instead of rebuilding my n/a motor i might as well do my swap.

So the general plan so far is buy a TT engine and Auto trans, have it rebuilt, then have it swapped in. Obviously it's not going to be simple or affordable but that's why I'd like to further aquaint myself with the process.

My end goal is to have a fun daily not a race car so I'm not looking to do anything too crazy. Upgrades I've been looking at is exhaust, intake, ecu, and more modern turbos.

So far my list looks like this. Please correct me or make suggestions.

- tt engine
- auto trans
- wiring harness
- driveshaft (can I use my existing one? Or do I need custom?)
- tt diff
- turbos (modern replacements? Probably going to run 12psi or so)
- ecu (probably JWT)
- Exhaust (manifold, down pipe, test pipe. Reccomendation? Currently have a Stillen catback.)
- Fuel pump
- intake (currently have a Stillen cai, I hate it. Best intake that sits behind nose panel)
- intercooler?

Honestly speaking manual is your best bet for power, and feel. But to each is their own.
Single piece is a great replacement for the stock drive shaft
As far as turbos go. The stock ones can hold up too 15 I believe.
Exhaust, look on z1 motorsports same with intercooler

I was leaning towards the auto mainly because it seems to be a lot cheaper most regards especially since mine is already an auto. But I might change my mind along the way lol.

With regards to the drive shaft, my main concern is that my car is a 2+2 so if I'm not mistaken that means it's a different length than the 2+0 which was every TT. So would an N/A spec aftermarket or stock Drive Shaft work? Or are 2+2 length TT spec drive shafts available?

My last concern was regarding the turbos. I read an article a while ago about different style turbos. From my understanding the stock turbos on the 300's are an older style. I believe the newer style turbos use ball bearings which are generally better or something to that effect. I've never owned any turbo so I really don't know much about it.

Thanks for the input though, I'll be sure to look through z1's inventory

Drive shaft input shaft is different between NA and TT autos.

Keep the NA rear diff, 4.09 vs 3.69 gearing. It can handle the power, besides, you cannot put in a TT diff in a NA, because of HICAS. You will like the NA diff with the TT power. Also doing this, you can swap out the front half of the TT drive shaft with your NA driveshaft. If you need more clarification, let me know.

12psi will be good for the stockers, if you get the manual turbos vs the auto turbos, the NA diff will compliment it better. You may still have turbo lag, but not that bad.

Things to add;

Electronic boost controller
Turbo piping
TT Radiator and adapter (NA to TT)
New style injectors(if you go this route, get 740's) Old style tend to have issues with the ethonal in fuel
oil cooler and lines
Transmission cooler and lines(if keeping auto)
Boost gauge
Recirculating valves or BOV's(have ecu tuned for BOV's)

Question is how much money have you budget? What ever it is, double it. Thats what it will take because one thing after another. When I did mine I also did a 5 speed swap and got a hell of a deal for the engine and trans, still spent close to 8k for everything. Its one thing after another. Upgrade where you can, turbos are a good upgrade because used ones are a crap shoot. Ball bearing ones will need oil restrictors, might as well get braided lines if you go this route. I had the godspeed sidemount, loved them and had no issues. I was also running about 400hp. Your stillen intake is a very good intake, keep it. Let me know if you have any further questions.
