1UZFE S14A project

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

The car is running good. It is a lot of fun when you shift from 2nd to 3rd and turn the tires over.

We are actually doing another swap this weekend. We started last night by pulling the car in the garage and it looks like it could be driving down the road Saturday night. This one will be a lot cleaner than mine. Pics will come sometime next week.

Are you still making the tranny adapter plate. And if you are, how much would it cost. My email is [email protected].

Any updates on this project or the second one you were going to do? I sent you an email with some questions on your adapter plate. I'm interested in getting one made. Could you shoot me an email sometime or just reply here?

I'm really curious to know how well the 240sx tranny is holding up to the torque.

ThanksFred

Sorry for the long absence. I've actually been busy at work and working on my house quite a bit lately.

I am not currently making any of the adapter plates as they guy who was making some of the parts changed jobs and has left me without reliable access to a lathe. I also have to track down the dimensions from where we made the last one.

The other car is running good too. It is his daily driver and has been running since last June. I am hoping to get both of them out to one of the car shows this season.

The tranny is holding up fine. The only problem I have is a bad synchro, but that was going before i did the swap. lol.

I am driving it as much as I can on the pretty days. I think I am finally going to wire up my windshield wipers. I know, I'm lazy. Rain-X FTW.

Thanks!

I hope to be starting a new thread or expanding this one by the end of summer. Just gotta figure out turbo placement and exhaust routing.

Oh, and some money. lol

After reading this thread about 17 times, i've decided against an ls based motor swap in lieu of this particular one, megasquirt and all. If it's not too much of a hassle, would you mind if i asked you questions about the ms portion of the build when it gets under way? I'm particularly interested in how well the ignition timing works with the dual distributors or if it would just be easier to use an LS1 CNP ignition setup.

I happen to have a 1uz, as I abandoned the 300zx project.

On my way to completing this swap. I wound up with not 1 but 2 1uzfe engines. One from a 96 LS400 with a ton of miles and one from a 97 SC400 with 90k on the clock.

I'll be using a 96 LS400 wire harness and ECU on the SC400 engine.

Heres the SC400 engine after swapping the oil pans and motor mounts with my LS400 motor.

Adapter plate will be started next week. I'll be sure to start my own thread building on what Watty has pioneered here once I progress and get more pics.

BTW Watty, I have a spare TB without the TRAC secondary TPS on it if you are interested.

I may be interested in that. How much were you looking to get for it? I am in the process of talking to a guy about picking up another engine. He wants $250 for it. lol I can't hardly pass it up.

Also, are you going to Nicofest Nashville? I will be there on that Saturday.

Can't wait to see the beast again, Watty!

For those of you who haven't seen this car in person, the swap looks factory. It's that clean. Cool as hell.

$250 for a 1uz is a good deal. I managed to score 2 of them for $700 complete with ECU, harness, and machined MR2 flywheel. Pretty good bang for the buck if you ask me.

I'm not sure if I'll be coming to Nashville yet or not because the way my schedule is shaping up I may not be done with the car by then. I've got the pilot bushing adapter made and the adapter plate started, but the real chore of wiring it up is yet to come.

I'm only looking for $30 for the TB plus shipping, or I can just hand it to you if I wind up coming to Nashville this year depending on how soon you want it. Not going to need it since the spare 1uz it's coming off of will wind up carbeurated in our Lemons racecar for next year.

This thread really makes me want to put a 1uz in my shell instead of a KA. Do you have ballpark figures on how much you spent (if you don't mind saying)? I figure we can fab everything up that we need to.

I had about $2k in my swap with everything including the Megasquirt and radiator. We did another for $2.5k. Kinda depends on what you want/have to replace and what kind of deals you can find on the components. The actual install and fab parts are pretty cheap if you have access to machine shop equipment.

I'm right at about $1900 with mine and have caught a bunch of good deals on stuff. I have everything that I need right now to finish except time. I'm participating in the LeMons race in SC on the 12-13th of Sept. so all spare time is being spent finishing up that car. (1981 200sx w/ my old KA in it )

All in good time!

Awesome! What year LS400 is it out of? If you intend on using the stock ECU and harness, I may be able to help you out with the wiring... that is once I get to the point of starting mine up and it actually works...
