So I bought a Dual xdvd8265 off of Ebay. I tried to follow the wire color chart on the versaspeed, but the illumination wire(orange) was left with no other wire to connect to on the harness I got for the Dual stereo. Its not working. Do you think thats why? because the illumination wire isnt connected? I can take pics if anyone can help. Thanks.

The wiring harness for the Versa doesn't have the illumination wire, If you want access to it you will have to splice into your cars harness.... but that shouldn' t be the problem as most decks if that wire isn't connected it goes to a default brightness.

Now to the most likely cause of the problem. The GROUND wire (the black one) where are you connecting it to since it does not have a connection to the harness either. The best place to connect this wire is on the drives side above the gas peddle there is some frame with holes in it, and using a bolt is the easiest way of connecting it.

If your ground is connected I would check all of the connections (namely the Power wire) and check to see if there is a power button to turn on the radio.

I hope this helps you out.

On the harness I got with the stereo, there was a wire for "vechile" I connected the ground to that. Thats probably the problem.

I just put in a stereo last night that I will have paid 50.00 new after rebate from Crutchfield. I purchased a JVC CD receiver with HD radio (KD-HDW10) for 100.00 with all the install accessories plus there is a 50.00 rebate from the HD radio ad campaign. I also purchase 2 pairs of Alpine SPS-17C2 6.5" speakers with all the install gear for 100.00. My order also had free shipping. So in total I will have spent 150.00 for a nice setup. As a side note when I grounded the radio I used the radio mounting screws as that is how it is done from the factory. Works great I have HD radio now, mp3 player, pulls in radio stations well and it is a very very clean install (personally I think better then I have ever seen since it is all soldered and not wires were cut except for the speakers). So if you want a whole new stereo for 150.00 order now!!
