I have yet to send my block to the machine shop, its already 30 over with good bores im just having it hot tanked and the decks cleaned up. I cant find a sufficient vehicle to put it in yet either, I have the money, I just dont have the time or motivation. What made him decide to go with the 355 instead of the 383? he was already the correct bore size, he would just have had to run a die grinder on the bottom of his cyl. walls so the bottom of the rod has clearance.

That thing came along pretty nice. I'm a T Top kinda guy, but it looks like he'll have all the go hes gonna need for a long while. Is he getting any special exhaust? Borla makes a ripe sounding one for v8's.

hes going with a custom made exhaust from a local shop, he already has a muffler and hes getting a dummy cat. the problem with this body style camaro is that theres very limited room on the underside of the car. there isnt enough room to run dual pipes what was the original plan, so the current plan is to have the headers Y into a single 3 inch pipe which the "cat" and muffler will be part of, then the pipe will Y out into seperate pipes at the back so dual tips can come out the back

^ YUPPS! True duals will leave you with .5" to go over bumps and whatever animals he hits that end up under the car.

Did he use flex paint on the bumpers?

I can't believe I just now saw this thread. VERY Nice build. I also have a 91 RS 5-speed and plan to do the 350 swap after I'm done with the 240SX.

What a stupid post. Those things have grown on me so hard the last few months. Been consistently getting my *** kicked by a few Camaros in this city, including the world's fastest (well, not second fastest) street legal 6 speed F Body.

Want vids of it running, nao.

^ lol, im glad youve come to like them. i really like this body style. pics of it running will be up, my bros just finishing up little things. mostly wiring and interior stuff. hes ordering autometer sport comp2 gauges to mount in place of the stock cluster since the speedo and tach dont work anymore

I am late to this thread, but pleased with the results. Nice Camaro!

And yeah, build quality for GM generally sucked until the last few years. This 98 Seville has numerous manufacturing and design flaws that have been cured with cheap home remedies.

06 Escalade on the other hand is rock-freaking-solid, inside and out. GM trucks and Toyota Corollas will outlive all the roaches and ants.

vids coming soon. i took a ride in it on sunday but i didnt have a camera or anything with me. the temp exhaust hits the bottom on the car when shifting. it idles and runs solidly though. theres just little stupid things now. ps pump is whirring and the line isnt kinked and theres fluid so its obviously the pump, its a remanned unit and its still under warranty so thats no big deal, the mech fuel pump started to seep a little right at the gasket and first gear is tall as crap so he's ordering 4 10 gears to install with the posi. he also ordered a 3 inch fake cat. its 3 inches straight through but has a shell around it to make it look like a cat. once thats gets in the car is off for exhaust work. he also ordered a few gauges to start making the gauge cluster. i'll have pics and vids to follow

I'm not going to kiss your a55 like everyone else around here, trust me. My philosophy has always been "do it once and do it right." I wouldn't have even bothered with that abortion, waiting is always better if it's done correctly.

J bends aren't expensive, neither are collectors. Personally, I'd go with 2 2 1/2" pipes merged into a 3" Y and have a big single out the back (not split via the muffler like most factory jobs/bolt on exhausts). A very similar setup worked well on a ZZ4 crate motor I put in a 3rd gen. We made it modular so it would be easy to drop the exhaust if the transmission ever had to be dropped.

hah i really dont care if you kiss my a55. its not even MY build, its my brothers. "do it right do it once" is a great philosophy to have but the exhaust shop thats doing the exhaust is a 30 minute drive away. Even if we thought it'd be a good idea to risk getting pulled over trying to drive it there with absolutely no exhaust the car is deafeningly loud without those temp pipes on it, which would make it impossible to set the rocker arms if you can't hear sh1t. it took about 40 minutes to fab the temp pipes up, all that needed done was the flanges and bends. those pipes with glass packs were already just laying there and it was cheap for the rest of the supplies to make it work. its seems like a waste since they wont stay on the car long at all, but they're a necessity. a high flow cat is on its way with a few other parts and the car goes next wednesday to have the exhaust fabbed and installed

alright. i only snapped of 2 pics before the battery died but heres what the exhaust looks like from the back. the pipes coming out are 2.5 inches and have a 45 diagonal cut on the ends

heres a few pics from the other day of the gauge cluster project my brother is working on.stock cluster removeda traced template used to transpose onto plexiglass and then be cut out for the new clusterthe plexiglass cutout.

i dont have any more pics since im not over there all the time when he's working on it, but my brother was using a jig saw to cut the holes for the gauges and the blade was a little too aggressive and it cracked the plexiglass. he cut another piece out and used my dremel to cut the holes this time. he also mounted all the brackets and secure the surround bezel to it. it fits perfectly in the place of the old cluster and all the gauges are in and just needs wired up but my brother said no pics until its a finished

he also got a new autometer sending unit for the oil pressure gauge (old one wasnt working) and has the moroso air filter on. heres a quick shot of the completed engine with the filter on, very clean and classy

to date, the things that need fixed are:- ps pump (sounds like its dieing already and its still new, its all good, its under warranty)- fuel pump weeps just a tad, not enough to actually drip on the ground, so it isnt too bad.- the carb needs tweaked for the af ratio- pass side header is cracked and leaking at the collector (damn cheap sh1t)

all easy to fix and the gauges being wired and af ratio being set will be done on saturday. 4 10 gears are also in the near future along with the posi unit already waited to be installed. the stock gearing makes the 1st gear waaaay to tall. i'll get more pics an vids on saturday
