Looking good man. I have an 88 IROC-Z with a 5.7 TPI. Doing headgaskets at the moment. Just found out it is .040 over so that would make it a 357. =D

Doesn't sound god awful, just an untuned carb. He'll get it right soon enough I'm sure.

nice, the iroc and 5.7 tpi is a good combo for a stock setup, but auto transmission is gay.

yeah, it has potential to sound so much better though. i talked to him about it the other day, and he said he set the rocker arms after i left and its much better. he still hasnt perfected tuning the carb but its better then what it was.

as far as the plate, its not like a 91 camaro with a 350 is a crazy sought after car that i'm worried about people using his plate numbers for a devious purpose, besides i dont know how to edit video

My auto transmission isn't gay!

The last time someone stole a third gen, it was a new car, lol. Actually, someone TRIED to steal mine last year but failed miserably...which isn't acceptable because it is sooooo not a hard car to steal.

i denial about your trans?

i had no idea these cars were easy to steal or even sought after. this ar is mostly garage kept and hardly driven, since my brother doesnt need to drive anywhere to go to work or anything. his bike is his DD

No denial, its a very good transmission. The cars aren't sought after considering they aren't worth a hell of a lot, but they're wicked easy to steal. I highly suggest an alarm system.

If you wanted a 5.7 in an IROC you had to get the Automatic. T5s are too weak to handle a 5.7.

And +1 on the ease of theft. I got me one of those 80's steering column locks for security. =D Thankfully the previous owner gave it to me.

^ the only pic i have, its kind of similar to the last one. the cluster is in an done but i only had my phone to take pics, and it was dark. there's a few electrical gremlins to track down, both front marker light bulbs blew and the dome light always stays on now . this stuff is getting sorted in the next few days. the new fuel pump was supposed to go in today. im assuming it did, but i havent been over there all day. i'll have to find my camera and take real pics of the cluster and whatnot tomorrow.

glad you enjoyed the cluster, i really like how it came out. not much is going on with my dad's car, in a few weeks he'll probably have time to work on it more, but he's just busy running his business for now.

little update, today my brother fixed the leaky header. it was leaking right at the collector so it was really tight. it had to be welded from the outside as well as inside to seal it up.

header ready to be worked on

being fixed

reinstalling

kind of a crappy pic but its supposed to be of the header as its being reinstalled from the bottom

the leaky fuel pump was also replaced with a nice holley unit, i should have taken a pic of it but i wasnt thinking. i'll snap one tomorrow.

at this point the carb needs tuned (which is getting done tomorrow) then i think its ready for inspection. i'm pretty sure 4.10 gears were ordered tonight, but im not positive

minor update, i'll post pics later, but the 4.10 gears are in and soon to be installed. little stupid things are being fixed right now. the car was dropped off to have the carb tuned and the shop didnt touch the carb at all and now it backfires like no other . the plug wires were replaced with nice ones that you dont have to build yourself and the spark plugs were pulled out and cleaned, after some tinkering and resetting it became apparent that the distributor was bad (no idea how) so my brother picked up and new one and got it running and set the timing. he swapped on one of my dad's carbs just to see how it runs with a tuned carb, so we can take that out of the equation when diagnosing little hiccups. i'm heading over there now to get some updates and see whats going on

White Comet wrote:hes going with a custom made exhaust from a local shop, he already has a muffler and hes getting a dummy cat. the problem with this body style camaro is that theres very limited room on the underside of the car. there isnt enough room to run dual pipes what was the original plan, so the current plan is to have the headers Y into a single 3 inch pipe which the "cat" and muffler will be part of, then the pipe will Y out into seperate pipes at the back so dual tips can come out the back
Decent looking project your bro has. My buddy has a 84 t/a that he's been building up for a few years.

But I am replying to let you know that you CAN run true duals on a 3rd gen f-body and have plenty of ground clearance, more than .5". My buddy had some on his t/a. 100% mandrel bent and fully welded. They came off of another Camaro. He ended up selling the duals with plans on getting another SLP LM1, as of now he's open headers.

But here's a pic he has left from selling the duals..

yeah i should have specified, you CAN run true duals but they'll be a little tight for clearance and right on top of each other.

I can't find all my pics, but i'll post what i have. since the last update........

the car is now has the carb properly tuned. my brother bolted on my dad's bigger demon carb just to see where other problems were since we knew the demon was setup properly. after all the bugs where worked out the original carb was reinstalled and tuned. the timing might need bumped just a little, but its pretty good right now.

heres a vid from when they got it running again, its really rough here.

after the car was running my smoothly my brother started to daily it. Just wednesday though it was rainy so he didn't have work. He used this time to swap in his posi rear with the 4.10 gears.everything feels much better with the new gearing. now all that left to do is break everything in. My brother is now working on running a few little vacuum lines and reinstalling the vacuum bladder thing that controls the heater flaps. besides that the car is ready to get inspected and nothing else is planned right now except for some nice wheels and tires. we're looking at some nice 15x8s in the front and 15x10s in the rear. i've been busy with my own project and work so i havent been around to get a ride with everything as it should be, but we'll take it out on sunday and i'll get some vids then

got a ride in the car today. everything is still settling and being broken into but its very impressive nonetheless. the speedo needs calibrated but the 6 speed trans is nice for highway cruising. we were going about 80 at like 1500 rpms . it's very nice. i'll get vids soon and after its all broken we'll really have some fun

here it is breaking the rear end loose just a little

just some random pics from todaywe'll see out it really pulls after everything is broken in a settled

little update since it's been awhile. the t56 was replaced with another t56. the first one was clearly messed with and was for some reason geared retardedly, with the 4.10 rear gearing 1st felt terrible. so a new one was purchased from a reputable company with a 12 month unlimited mile warranty, big difference feels so much better now. theres some other little things being fixed as well, and new throttle spring was installed and a set of hedman torque step headers are on the way. heres a few pics that i snapped today. the car is pretty dirty though.last pic is my fav

lol thanks for the compliments, the car is having some minor bugs worked out and the torque steps are on back order, but from what i've read they should be sweet.
