sup guys.

I asked a question before about changing my transmission fluid at 116k.it is brown but really doesnt smell burnt. should I run the risk of flushing it out and changing the fluid. Im not sure about my transmission. I had my car on the lift and it had fluid all on the oil pan pretty covered but not dripping just leaking o guess. no visible signs from pan. was thinkin it might be the transmission above. my car is sometimy. if i go easy on the gas it shifts fine, just a low power feel. but if I step on the gas it has a .5 second pause to it then kicks in. and sometimes it feels lifeless on a hill.do u think this all ties in with the transmission or what. also. if the transmission is goin will it just go and be dead in a week. or will it gradually get worse in a 2-3 year spans.

im looking to decide wether to keep this car. it has 116k. interior is mint. exterior is good. just this transmission fluid/leak/shift concern is making wonder to get rid of it for 5k$ while I can

your help would be greatly appreciated as usual..

I would definitely get it changed. If you're concerned with getting it flushed, just have a drain and fill done. Have them see if they can tell where the leak is coming from; you'll want to get that fixed.

Some of the shifting concerns you mentioned are indicative to having low trans fluid.

A low mileage transmission from a junk yard can be found for around $800. It's a job that, if you are mechanically inclined, could be done in a weekend with the help of a couple friends.
