Been a very good car-Still original engine and transmission
Engine still fantastic-think it can go 50,000 at least
transmission is getting a little sloppy sometime shifting into 2nd gear (automatic)
$1600.00 to overhaul
In Dallas Texas area-any shops to recommend?
What kind of requests should I make on the shop when they overhaul?

That would be the best bet if its just your daily driver if it truely has a place in your heart then change the trans when it breaks down and keep on rolling!

Talked to AAMCO-recommended rebuilding since the slippage is putting strain on other
parts in the transmission.

Another shop said drive the transmission till it dies

They both want to rebuild the transmission in the car. One of them said the days
of getting another transmission and putting them in the car were gone since that
transmission was made for that car (kinda believe that but not totally)

If I can get 50,000 miles out of the $1600.00 transmission thats about 4 cents a mile

Anybody ever put in their own transmission? If so where did you get it. Kind of afraid
of a junkyard for something like this. But should i be?
