Ok I have a 1991 nissan pickup with the Ka24e 5 speed. i just pulled the motor because i thought i had a blown head gasket. Turns out the guide for the timimg chain had gone to crap and just completely fallen apart and caused the timing chain to rub a hole in the front timing cover right behind the water pump and filled my pan up with coolant, witch is why i assumed head gasket. well i got it all pulled had my head re-worked because i had some valve train noise also. got it all put back together and timed right i belive. now it cranks and i have fuel at the regluator on the fuel rail and it doesnt start. I hit it with some startin fluid and it kicks over in like half a crank runs for about a second and dies. well i got under the hood and started unpluging connectorrs and relays, its been sitting for about 3 months because I have been gathering parts but i figured mabey a bad connection... needless to say i did that and i got like one crank out of it on its own, did it again a couple more times and got the same result. has anyone had any problems similar or have any ideas because im not sure witch direction to go from here. :gotme

Is the distributor timing set properly? Could it be 180 degrees off?

Getting fuel got it starting now but no idle now. Itll run above like 2000rpm get any lower than that it acts like it loads up and dies. If I unplug my MAF sensor it'll start and idle for about 30-60 seconds and die

Sounds like a timing issue, either ignition or valvetrain.

Get it up fast 2g on rpm runs fine if or if I unplug my MAF and TPS it idles fine. If I plug the MAF in with the TPS Unpluged it won't idle at all. But if I do the opposite it will idle for about 30-45 seconds and load up and die n less I bump the throttle. Unplug both and it will idle smooth as could be for as long as I let it run. Any ideas there? And should my lights on my computer be lit constantly when it's running?

Any luck fixing your problem?? i am having the same exact issue my truck will start for a second on starting fluid but then dies. I just got done replacing the ominous chain guides. I checked the timing what feels like a million times.

I ended up taking it to a local shop because I don't really have the time to mess with it anymore but it's been there for 4 days now and no calls sense they started it and asked what I had done to it. When i find out what the problem is I will update ya on what I find out

Male sure your fuel lines are right the regluator should Be on the return line. I over looked that mistake when I put mine back together
