Short version:Even in neutral, the engine responds very slowly to throttle and the revs don't come on nearly as quickly as they used to. If I rev it high or let it warm up it smokes ALOT, pretty much engulfing the back of the car. And the weirdest thing is, if I take the fuse for the fuel pump out, the car will still idle indefinitely. If I add throttle then, it stalls, but i really don't understand how its idling.

Other info:I haven't been driving the car for about 8 months because it had issues running smooth. At part throttle it would be fine but at WOT it would just make alot of noise and the revs would barely go up. Since then I've changed the EGR-BPTC valve (it was bad), took apart the whole intake manifold, cleaned it all, including the IAA unit. My AIV unit is removed, and so are my secondary butterfly valves. All vacuum hoses are reconnected and the ones that are not used anymore are plugged up. Also, I'm using a breather filter on the valve cover and the appropriate hole on the intake is plugged up. That's pretty much everything that I've changed to the engine.

Someone suggested it may be bad valve stems so there is oil going into the cylinder and thats why it smokes so much. Could the engine be running purely on oil when I take the fuel pump fuse out?

Well an easy way to check this out is to get it started and let it run for a few to get everything circulating. Then turn it off and check your spark plugs. Also grab a flashlight and see if you can see into the spark plug hole/cylinders. If you see oil down in there it could be either your rings or your valves.

I bought new spark plugs about a week ago (NGK Iridium). Let the car warm up today and then took them out and looked at them. Looking from the front of the car, the first one is very white around the tip. The next 3 are all completely black. Sorry no pictures and I was not able to look inside cylinders

Two more things, the car is leaking what looks like oil, but I'm not sure since it seems too watery sometimes. It comes down the front of the oil pan so I'm not sure if it's just the oil pan or maybe the front seal. Also, some liquid builds up around the flange between the exhaust manifold and the rest of the exhaust. It seems to be coming from inside the pipe and then evaporates (I can see smoke). It doesn't drip so I have no idea what it is.

Fromwhat you are describing it sounds like three different problems :A: The front leak.B: The white smoke and the "sweating" exhaust flange.C: The noise

B and C are probably related to a bad head gasket. The color of your oil and coolant might give you another clue.As for the noise ..without knowing what it sounds like hard to tell but none of my guesses will be good news

As for running without the fuel pump relay fuse, I find it hard to velive it's running on OIL alone. If for sure you have the right fuse, (you could also disconnect the fuel pump connector in the luggage compartment) and it is indeed running on OIL, then the head gasket has definately left the building.
