1990 Redo Transformation

My mechanic friend gave me ideas what to check next.
It seems the coil is not getting power.
There is one wire to the coil that will show 12v with the key on.
And mine didn't.
I need to run thru the schematics next.
It may be an isolated problem or the computer may need replaced.

Didn't you say you had spark though?

I do, though it is weak.
I tested the system per the shop manual, all checks out good.
It does appear to be timing, again.
I removed the distributor drive shaft and advanced it a tooth or two.
It's hard to tell.
It almost started while adjusting the distributor.
I'll be trying fresh plugs next as these may be fouled.

Today was the day.
I removed the cam cover and my mechanic he said... the cams off.
Sure enough, I had to counter clock it a tooth.
Which means compressing the chain tensioner with one hand.
Removing the cam sprocket and reposition it with the other.

Sorry about that... yes.
Today I bought a used bed and installed it myself.
That was fun, trying to muscle the bed from upside down on the bed of my Ranger and placing it on the 4x4.
I also did the title work today then drove it home.
I need to go over a few thing before it's ready to pass inspection.

Will do.
I scheduled a repaint and dent removal for the cab.
I noticed the truck runs out of steam at around 4,100 rpm.
Guess I need to recheck the timing.
Oh, and the ac works.

nicee.. Just out of curiosity, how much would you be looking to get for it? I have to sell my R50 first before I can even think about getting anything else. Again, cna't promise anything definite

After a week of driving with the bench seat, I had to install the buckets.
Again... what a difference.

I have been following this thread since I started as a lurker. I gotta say you did a great job with this truck. Gives me an idea to find a 4x4 wreck and rebuild it. Im lusting for a 4x4!!! My Caddy is great in the snow, but you cant go camping in it. LOL!!

I'm releaved to have a 4x4 again.

On a side note:
I traded gage clusters on my 1990 2wd and my 1990 4x4.
When I drove the 4x4 I noticed the tach did not move.
Odd as it worked on the other gage cluster.
So I started my 2wd and . . . the tach worked.

Apparently my 2wd was wired for a tach even though it never had one from the factory.
Since it didn't work when I installed it years back I thought I needed to wire it in somehow.

If you want to add a tach give it a try.
Mine had the connector in the dash for the tach as well as the clock.

The inner rear wall stamping is different than my 2wd.

I'll have to fab a support bracket for the speaker mount lower attachements.

That's how mine is, it's different than your 2wd back wall so I can't use the OEM speaker mounts without modifying them. Mine has the 2 lower holes but not the upper one. You seem to have gotten the upper one but not the lower. Go figure.

Body shop is behind schedule so the repaint is on hold.
I decided to look for a King Cab.
I did do some 4 wheeling at the junkyard yesterday.

mrecoolgar... do you have any spare? im rocking a pathy headliner piece for now... could you at take some better pics and of those plastics used to support it on the sides... i cant find anywhere that even sells the single cab cardboard... if you dont have any.. do you know anywhere that will sell it? please hit me up at 662-812-7957

Unsure what year they changed to the solid type headliner but I'm gueassing 1994 if not earlier.
The side trim will be with the headliner, unless someone prior needed it.
You can use the side trim from a Pathfinder too, although it will need to be shortened.
