HELP!!!! I haved searched through the forums and found a couple of helpful hints, but still confused! it all started before i left for work, i started the car like normal, about 15 seconds went by then heard this god awful grinding sound like the starter still trying to start, then it stopped. Drove to work no problems, when i got ready to go to lunch, the battery was dead! tried to boost, would not even make a click sound, i mean it would no do nothing. checked some fuses and found the hazard lamp, and horn fuse under the hood had blown, repalced....nothing. bought a new starter, everything seemed fine, 2 to 3 days go by, and i noticed that my interior lights do not work nor does the driver side power seat, passenger is ok works fine. I go to the store the other night, starts no problem runs great like normal, get to the store, cut off the car, keys in pocket go in.....come out 15 mins later car is trying to start by itself, the starter is turning over on its own. I pull cables and get it to stop, not sure what i done next, but now when i out my key in and turn it to the acc position the starter tries to start, not sure what i done, but when i removed the hazard lamp fuse the car started, i tried to hurry home with it, got about 5 miles had 1 to go and it died, now everytime i trie to replace the hazard lamp fuse even with the keys out of the ignition, the moment the fuse makes connection the starter turns? help

Replace ignition relay. Contact points probably burnt and sticking.

It could be a worn ignition switch too, or even both. Good luck.

BTW, lose the CAPS LOCK key as posting in all CAPS is considered SHOUTING and thus RUDE.

I would think by now [17 years] every 90 Q should have had [or be in need of] a new ignition switch assembly.

I replaced the starter relay, car turns over everything seems to be working normal, but it will not start. It will turn over like it is supposed to but acts like it is not getting any fuel to the motor and the computer light is on. I have no idea what to check or do now. Timing chain guides replaced less than a year ago, and according to past owner ignition replaced by Infiniti 2 years ago......

With all those erratically blown fuses, I suspect you have a short somewhere, no? Nasty lil gremlin, that one. I'd check every relay and fuse first. And you really should do it with a multimeter - often it looks good to the eye, but is bad.

Ok checked all fuses I could with meter, all was fine, found 1 bad relay which was accerssories #2. Replaced it and now the car turns over but is it acting like it is not getting any fuel, can hear the pump working and cutting off. I have noticed that the ecu computer red light stays on.....will I mean that when I am turning the motor over trying to start it the light goes off and stays off until the fuel pump stops humming. Also now I have no interior lights and the driver side seat (power) does not work, passenger side seat works fine>>>>>>

They can be a great source of electrical demonics

I will check the grounds, the car turns over but will not fire off. You can hear the fuel pump working when you first turn the key to the on position, but when the pump stops the red led light on the E.C.C.S. computer comes on.......What is driving me nuts is that it all started with the starter hanging up and killing my battery, I replaced the starter drove it for about 3 days went to the store and came back out and the starter was turning over and i haven't put the key in yet......When I was working on it this Saturday, one moment the driver seat works, and the automatic seat adjust worked then it stopped??????? I do not know what to do!!!

After 7 days of diagnosis and swapping parts one usually takes the vehicle to an expert [dealer technican].

There is often a limit to what can be accomplished via INET............at somepoint you have to pay a technican to start from stratch rediagnosing.

If you've correctly checked out all electrical components like relays, fuses etc, double check all switches and even bulbs. Sometimes bulbs can create weird problems in Infinitis, as witnessed by other threads here on electrical problems. If you've eliminated all of the potential glitches in components, you'll have to get a multimeter and check for shorts or open circuits in the wiring. Easiest placve to start is at all connectors, checking for shorts to ground using ohm meter function, or open circuits using voltmeter or ohm meter for continuity of circuits.

It's a time-consuming job, and one that will obviously require patience and determination. If you keep after it, you WILL find the cause of the problem.

Let us know what you eventually find out. Maybe it will help someone else.

You never said whether you ruled out the ignition switch or not. Whatever the problem is, it all began with your starter randomly engaging - gotta be between the ignition and the starter.

Sorry, yes the ignition switch was replaced 2 years ago, what i have done now is started at the begining again, i removed the starter and going to start all over again. Question? Could the theft system have anything to do with it not wanting to fire, the motor turns over and i can smell fuel like it is flooding, and I just noticed last night that the when the motor is turning over the led light on the computer blinks with each crank, and when i remove the main theft relay, the starter does nothing.

I don't think the anti-theft would let the engine crank, but I don't know.

Was the switch new or used? Used may have it's own issures.

I would have been better off flushing $200.00 down the toliet....would have gotten the same results.....nothing!!!! can anyone tell me if the red light in the ECCS(ECM) is suppose to stay on or off. I have tried the turn the screw wait 2 to 20 seconds turn back, light stays on. When I try to start the car the egine light on dash and computer red light stays on and flickers in time with the starter, when i let go of the key, the red light stays off until the fuel pump stops pumping then it comes on again. I have replaced both accessories relay, ignition relay, eccs relay fuel pump relay, battery, starter, and all fuses under the dash and hood! any help would be greatful

Well, I wouldn't take it to just any mechanic. Try to locate an Infiniti specialist. We know of one in NJ and one in Atlanta.
