I have a few pairs of front tokico blue struts. So fronts are covered. Rear end seems to have little extra bounce to it. Anyone know what the rear options are? Lowest price for OEM out of Japan is around 200$ each Plus shipping. 2 rear to my door would still be under 500$ still less than the 330$ each plus shipping from an American Infiniti dealer. Various sets of 4 run around 450$-600$ on yahoo auctions. New coilover sets seem to be around 900-1500$

So. It's spring time and she is sure springing and it's time to take this baby out of the garage. The rear end has some bounce. The front end has a slight bounce. All 4 struts gotta go. I have a few sets of front tokico. Does anybody have a lead on some rear struts. Cheapest out of Japan for stocks are 231$ each. With my discount I could probably get then to my door for 400$ shipped. My goal is to keep this one relatively stock. But I'm not going to throw stock struts on it if I can get a decent set of coilover or non reservoir air rides. Ideas?

I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with. At this point I don't see many easy options out there. You're lucky you have fronts. I think they're discontinued from Nissan too.

ABSORBER KIT, SHOCK REAR
Genuine Nissan (5621060U25
https://www.amayama.com/en/part/nissan/5621060u25
List price is $231. With a nice discount I got them for just under $200. Shipping is just over $100. But that also includes a bunch of other things being shipped along with them. That's the route I took. Said I will receive them by the 23rd. They usually are very quick with the shipping. Now well see how long it takes to get them with all these shipping restrictions and delays

Sounds good. I have had to resort to Amayama a few times now for G50 parts. Shipping is usually the bugger, especially on the heavy items. But nice to be able to get parts, I've had to wait for parts to be made, but few things (notably the coil subharnesses) have they stopped production on entirely. So far my post office has never asked for duty to release the package--same in Mass? Curious how you score a discount with Amayama?

No duty to release at my post office either. I have been ordering from amayama since 2004 when they originated. I guess I just earned it for me being a frequent flyer. I dont remember the last time I used anything but them for OEM parts.

They came in last thursday. Quicker to get parts from japan than anywhere in the US. Car goes in tomorrow for the struts along with the Stillen strut bar that is next to impossible to find.

Sweet!
I did also find with Amayama that once they received all the parts from Nissan warehouse (that part took a while for some plenum hoses) that I got the box at my door 2 days later!
So.....you just changed the alternator (a PITA job in my book) but you are sending the car to the shop for struts and the FSTB? I would have guessed the other way around.

I'll probably put the FSTB on myself before an alignment. That's 5 minutes. I don't think I will be doing an alternator myself on a G50 ever again. I'm feeling well aged so far this year. Getting to the point where saving time and less manual labor is more valuable than the money spent. Not much traffic at the mechanic down the road. I'm sure he would appreciate the Business. Besides arent we supposed to be spending some money right now?

Good point on supporting the local businesses....the flip side is that there are very few people I trust to have the skills AND care to work on my G50s. But struts should be straightforward.
I hear you on the aging. I'm late 50s, was at the gym 3x a week prior to COVID-19, and in the best health of my adult life. Still, my eyesight and arthritis are a reminder I ain't getting younger...
Don't forget to put a floor jack under the front subframe middle, and just get the front tires off the floor to offload the negative camber when setting your FSTB. The pre-load should keep you around a -1 (negative) camber--which is the ideal for me between tire wear and handling.

Postponed. They salted the roads. Snow ice blah blah. Maybe tuesday. Go away year 2020
