Hello,
I am new to the forum so hello everyone! I just bought a '90 300zx TT three weeks ago. The car has been running perfectly. The dealer I bought the car from told me I had a leak in my master break cylinder and I am waiting for a replacement part from Japan.
This afternoon I went to my car (it is -14 F today) and tried to start it. I did not depress the clutch. The car turned over and tried to catch but would not. I tried this twice, then tried starting it with the clutch depressed. It fired to life. As the manual transmission was in neutral I took my foot off the clutch pedal and the car started to want to move forward and my rpm lowered substantially as if it was in gear. I quickly depressed the clutch, then tried easing off again, but the car acted as if it was in gear so I depressed the clutch and let it warm. The manual stick felt like it was set in molassas. Very difficult to move.
I let the car warm up (with the clutch depressed) for about an hour hoping that the transmission fluid would warm. It eventually did and I could move the gear shifter easily. I took my foot off my clutch pedal and it didn't act like it was in gear.
I then decided to drive. I depressed the clutch, selected reverse, eased off the clutch and the car didn't move. Absolutely nothing happened. It was like the car was still in neutral. I then tried first gear and nothing still. I tried pumping the clutch, starting the car in gear etc. to no avail.
Sould I be towing my 'new' car back to the dealer for help? It literally took the car an hour before I could move my gear shifter normally so I was thinking maybe there's water in the fluid? I have no idea what could make my clutch not disengage when it felt like it was disengaging when it wasn't in gear when I first started the car. I'm confused and would love your help.
Thanks in advance,
