Hello, I have problem with my Z's Security System. I see where the 'SECURITY' light should come on in the cluster but it doesnt. not even a blink. I tried arming the system a bunch of times, no good..The fuse is good, so what could be the problem? Please someone help. Thanks!

the system arms when the car is locked fomr the outside, it just take it a while, and it only gets set off if you open the car fmr the inside after it's armes, lock you car wiht the window down, let it sit for an hour (supposed to onlu take 5 mins but why not give ti longer to be sure, then reach in the open window, unlock and open the door fomr the inside, the alarm should go off

Sorry, that didn't work. I waited 2 hours and did exactly what you said. Are there any other ways to test the system. I checked the fuses and they are good, what else could it be?

There is no aftermarket alarm, where is the location and how do I check/test the unit?

It was underneath the passenger seat, I took the seat out and I cleaned the units contacts because they looked a little bit crappy, (both units loked good inside the casing). Then I re-installed everything and tried arming it again, nothing and no light response. I know it probably doesn't seem like a big deal, but it's both my first car and my first Z. So, I like knowing as much as I can about it for the future and etc.

I reccomend you buy a FSM, most liely the unit is bad but the FSM will detail trouble shooting the system

Dude I know just how you feel. That link is real good, cuz I've been having slight issues with my alarm system as well, and I feel like I just learned some stuff in reading that link.

I actually did get one back before I got the car, it's in a pdf though. The Service Manual wasn't really that helpful. So it has to be a bad unit. I also got the Owners Manual, since the car didn't have one.

I should have noted that have a service manual before, sorry.
