I was driving around yesterday and say a guy selling a 86 300zx. Its been in storage for most its life and has a little over 100k on it. All service has been done at a dealership and has a clean accident repair bill. From what I've gathered from this site it seems to be a z31 v6 n/a with a 5 speed. My family has a few late 80's rx-7's and I've always liked the style from back then. Because of the storage the car is rust free and running great. Do you think that its a good car for a restoration/classic keeper or should I keep looking for a turbo version. Does the car have a strong aftermarket/parts supply following or are spare parts hard to come by? Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks

A rust free Z is always a good thing. There is plenty of OE replacement parts available for the mechanicals on the Z. Aftermarket performance... well, we have 3 aftermarket exhausts to choose from. And only two are good choices. So that should give you an idea on that.

Having all the maintenance done and running good is also a great thing. But if you insist on having a turbo, there isn't a shortage of turbo cars, and the conversion isn't hard.

How's the car's condition compared to other Z31s in the area? And plans if you got one? If you want a stock/resto car, and this car is much better shape than the norm, then get it. If you just one to modify and race, then wait for a turbo that is in less than great shape.

MSA, blackdragon and courtesey aprts are the largest suppliers, pretty much anythign you need they've got

as fro restoration, pretty mucn none of the n/a's are collectibe, there are AEturbo 84 models and SS 88 models taht woudl be desirable as future collectibles, I wouldn't coutn on an n/a being collectible unless it's got like no miles and is in perfect unrestored condition which this one clearly is not

however, if you want a driver, just a clean car you can cruise and enjoy, go for it, the n/a isn't fast but is confortable and as long as you enjoy driving it why not
