I just picked up a 1984 Nissian 720 Z24 pickup for my daily commuter. I am having an issue with the truck Pinging really bad when its warm and under acceleration. I can get the ping to stop by retarding the timing a bit. The pinging stops, but i hardly have any power, and can barely go 60 mph. I have done spark plugs, wires, fuel fiter, oil, and filter. I also cleaned out the carb, seafoam the upper cylinders, and treatment in the fuel. I confirmed the EGR valve works, and checked for vaccum leaks. If anyone has any ideas let me know. I am about ready to pull my hair out.

Did it not do this when you test drove it? I would check the compression, and check the distributor indexing. You can use higher octane fuel and not an additive and see if that helps.
