Hi, hopeing someone can help me with one of our farm trucks. It is a 1984 Nissan pickup (I think a 720) 2WD, regular cab. It runs fine until the weather temps get around 90F, and then it will just quit on us, and is then impossible to start until the next morning when it coosl down, it will start up and run.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks for any help,
Paul

Have you checked for spark after it dies? Maybe the coil is getting hot and crapping out. If it's still getting spark, maybe the fuel pump is getting hot and crapping out.
Weird problem for sure. Welcome to the forum BTW..
Let us know what you find.

Welcome. It sounds like the coils. If its fuel it will sputter and die. If it just dies its electrical. Check the coils first. :)

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. I'll look for spark next time and work back from there. Bummer is I will have to wait until June!

I have been unable to kill this truck. It is 28 years old and we beat the snot out of it on the farm for 7 months of the year, and it sits outside in the weather for the other 5. Almost gave up though this summer, no fun when it shuts down with a load of veg in the back....

Best,
Paul

Yeah All Datsuns/Nissans are hard to kill. They die of natural causes or by accident.

if u are getting spark still , after it shuts off take a heavy ratchet and wack the drivers side of the carb just behind the fuel bowl could be a float sticking or needle blocking fuel flow , my truck does this on bumpy roads remembers its alumn. so don't hit it to hard just a few lite taps and try to start it ( turn the key off first befor wacking gl hope u figure it out and welcome
