Hey Forum Members,

My name is Dakota. I have recently run across a pretty decent looking 1970 1600 Roadster. I am no expert with these cars, the only Nissan I am around is my girlfriend's Altima and her Mother's Maxima. I am thinking about purchasing/trading for this vehicle. I was needing help with things about these cars that I should watch out for and steer away from. I don't have pictures on here yet, but probably will later on tonight. If you guys wouldn't care, can you help?

Thanks, Dakota.

Since no one else has answered, this is y very weak 2 cents.

I bought my first Datsun in 1969, a 510 two door. Talked to the dealership owner about the Roadsters. He said the 2000 version was a race engine and required much more attention compared to the 1600.

The 68 and 69 models had significantly better HP than the 70 and later due to early polution controls.

Just picked one up myself, same year and model. I have a lot to do (body and so on) before I even think about the power plan but 96hp in a early 70s 4 cyl isn't too bad for a car that's barly 2000lbs.

I'm thinking between upgrading carbs, allowing it to breath better (exhaust etc.) and an upgraded ignition it'll be around 130... not too far off the "U" motor (2.0)

I grew up with Datsuns but haven't had my hand in one for years so my plans could change quick.

I've had Roadsters over 25 years. I know them pretty good and answer questions.
