How would a 14b perform on a KA.

I was just curious as Im still putting together my turbo project, and was skeptical about the $350 t3/T4s on ebay. but I found a used 14b for 150 and was wondering how that would do for our engines. I know that they have run over 15lbs on the 2.0 mitsu engines.

Im only going for 5-7psi by the way.

ThanksSteve

Just out of curiosity, why do you say your skeptical of the T3/T04s on ebay?

I am a little skeptical because I have had bad dealings with some people on ebay. so I have reservations.

with private sale there is less of a chance that you will get screwed

Hmm, see I'm actually the other way...I've gotten screwed in private dealings but never on ebay because I'm very picky about who I buy from and their feedback etc. oh well, to each his own :) the 14B is a mitsubishi turbo from an eclipse...kinda like a T25 if I'm not mistaken.

yeah, the first gen

interestingly if I went with that, I would be going practically all first gen eclipse.

actually the ideal turbo that I want is a T3 from a z31, but I cant find one that is cheap enough to make it worth it, and it still being in good enough condidtion to run.

Im just looking at options

I've got a T25, spools up really quick the bad thing is that it lacks top end.............sucks for draggin but great for drifting

I've owned two 1st gen DSM turbo's..the 14b turbo is great for quick spool up, the high end isn't great, it's effiecent up to 18psi after that the turbo is just going to blow hot air..

Im looking for some top end. I like to drive hard, and quick spool is important for me as well, because I love to drift.

of course a T3/T04 would be better for top end, it would only spool above 3 grand, 3500?

The 14b would spool faster, being optimized for a 2.0l engine, and capable of 18psi on it, so I think that it should be functional at 7 psi on a 2.4L engine.

does anyone actually have one of these on their cars? how do you like it? does it still pull hard to redline?

The 1st gen DSM comes with a 14b. That turbo on 2.0L does not provide the top end that i think you are looking for, so it would be much worse on a 2.4L. A step up from the 14b, that you might want to consider is the big 16g. It would provide more top end and would still spool at low rpm.

You may want to consider a much larger turbine.
