07 xterra transmission fluid

Ive got an 07 xterra with 40,000 on it and I've been looking to get new transmission fluid in it being that it is used for towing. I did a drain and fill with matic j but it only accounted for about 4 qts. I work in a shop so i have access to a transmission flushing machine, however we use versa trans in just about everything. The provider of the equipment is called wynns if anybody is familiar with them and they claim versa trans is good for any vehicle. I was just wondering if i should put in versa trans or strictly matic j. The only reason I'm considering versa trans is the nissan fluid is 10$ a quart.

Nissan recommends MaticJ every 30k. Thats what I would do, and actually do on my truck. Found it for 8.62$ here: http://www.courtesyparts.com/m....html

Mine holds ~12qts or so, I forget the exact amount. You can either flush or drain, drive, & repeat to get more fluid out.

You're also going to have to add some extra if you use that machine, as you will have to purge out whatever existing fluid is in it. Matic J (it's now Matic S) can't be mixed with anything else.

What is maticj?

Matic J is the Nissan fluid for the 5AT transmission in the trucks and SUV's. 5AT cars take Matic K, 4AT in everything takes Matic D, CVT and GTR trans fluids are specific.

Use CAUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!I used Castrol Multi-Import ATF (it list matic-j on the container) and now my 2004 Titan LE 4X4 is in the shop getting a new trans. I dont know much about trans fluid, but the money I saved on trans fluid does'nt compare to what it cost to replace my transmission. Personally I would not take the chance with anything but Nissan Matic-j from the dealer.

Matic J and Matic S can be mixed. Matic S is the replacement for Matic J.
