07 spec v grinding noise

noise happens when i crank the car. the noise sounds like a grind, kinda like when u dnt have your car in gear all the way and it makes a grind/scratchy sound. its not as deep or long. just a quick scratch and then it goes away and my speedometer needles move side to side and does its usual start up. idles fine and drives fine. does not happen consistently, but intermittent. any ideas? thanks alot! o...and its at the dealership getting checked out rite now. just thto i get a couple of ideas before i get a phone call. haha

got it back from the dealer and they couldn't get it to grind. tech told me to just bring it back whenever the issue becomes consistent. while it was there, they fixed the recalls on it. such as the brake master cylinder and airbag connectors.

More common after it's been sitting awhile?

Could just be extra valve noise if more of the oil has had a chance to drain down to the pan.

is it the same noise as if you tried to crank it over while the engine is already on?

If the noise happens as soon as you turn the key could be the starter not engaging or releasing properly??

My car has the same issue and i took it to the dealership and they said they didn't find or replicate the noise. I noticed that it usually does it when the car is cold and the AC is on, thats when it does it the most.

it doesn't do it anymore for me and the dealership couldn't get it to happen either. i remember it happening one time after, and that was when i was low on gas. i had just one bar left. fyi for all spec v's...its best to use pure 91 octane premium gas for our cars.

The specv requires premium gas while the se-r does not.
