Hey everyone. Since this pass Wednesday snow storm in NY, my car has been acting up. That morning I went outside to clear the snow off the car. When I used the remote to open the door, it failed. When I pushed the button on any of the doors to open, it faied. So I used my key and got in the car. NP. I tried turning on the car without inserting the key and the car could not sense the presents of the key. OK. Well I then tried turning ON the car with the key in the ignition and it worked. NP. I said... it must be the battery on the remote. I changed the battery. and that did not solve the issue. I then looked for my second remote key, found it, and went to open the car. IT WORKED, the car detected it and was able to start the car without the key in the Ignition. Great. But when I turned off the car, exited the car and closed the door. I then tried to lock it via the button on the door and through the remote, but the car didnot recognizes it. I looked in the manual to see if it sayed anything about reprogramming the keys but nothing was there. I think the proble may lay with the reciever in the car and the cold temperatures/ice. The car is 2.5 years old with only 15K on it. Any recommendations?

I would just take it back to the dealer - it is still under warranty.

i dont think it has to do with the ice or cold. i live in ND where it is below zero for like 2 months. i left my car parked without turning it on for a month and it had about 2ft of snow on it and my keyless still worked.

its prob the keyfob itself. Because 1 worked 1 didnt. Was the key fob under several layers of clothing? Have you been keeping your KeyFob and cell phone in the same pocket?

There is a procedure to reprogram the keyfobs. If you want to try that first let me know.

Thank you for your input everyone. I figured out the problem. Turns out that I made a simple mistake on inserting the new battery backwards. And, maybe because of it and having both keys in my pocket, it created interference with the second key, and hence my car didnt know how to react. Once it opened both keys and had a DUH moment, realizeing the battery was inverted. I fixed it, and now both keys work. Thanks for everyone help.
