OK, well I used to own an 07 Versa, while it was a nice car for what it was, and how I love hatchbacks, I am now looking into getting a car with a lil more balls that can get up and go a lil better. Something that might be nice with some power, and has potential with minor bolt ons, has decent gas mileage (LA traffic is horrible), and can be a fun drive on country back roads. I have been contemplating what might be nice for about $25K.

Well I hear good things about the Civic SI, I would rather try to stay away from Honda's just for the fact that they are just so common here in LA, I want something a lil above the envelope, and there are not many Spec-V's really driven in LA that I notice. I think the majority would probably be the Civic SI, EVO, and STI.

I was also thinking maybe the new Lancer would be nice too, but I have not gotten too much info on it yet, but I really like the reliability of Nissans, and 200hp would be plenty enough for me, I am not looking into any serious competition (at least at this point) but I do want to be able to take it and do things later down the road. I really like the new Altima Coupe and the new 350Z too, but they are a lil out of my price range.

On to my questions.

For those of you that own the new Spec-V, how do you like it?

What is your personal opinion on it, and on its potential?

How do you like it in its stock form, its comfort level, and its backseat passenger room? (I have some bigger and taller friends over 6' 250 lbs.)

How is the response to the accelerator and what do you think about the power and shift points?

And finally what about as a DD and comfort level, and how well the mileage is, and highway cruising RPMs at about 65-75 mph?

Thanks for any help and opinions that you guys can provide. I know that there may be some controversial comments to come, but I want to try and keep the thread as on topic as possible please.

Thanks in advance guys!

i bought an '07 spec-v back in may. i also looked at the si, the gti, and the lancer. to be honest about the lancer, i think its a really nice looking car but the interior has a very cheap feel to it and it is really lacking in power. gti is a nice car but slightly more money and i really don't like the look of the 4 door version. the si is a very nice car, very stiff sporty ride but it lacks a lot of power in the low rpm range. i decided to go with the sentra because at the time i had a baby on the way, but still wanted a car with a little more umph. i have really enjoyed it so far, it packs a lot more torque in the low rpms which is a lot better and more practical if you need something for every day driving. back seat has a lot of room and although i've heard some mixed feedback about the fabric they chose for the interior seating, i think it compliments the control gauge panel and dash very well to make the interior look a lot nicer than any of the other cars i looked at. my best advice would be to make sure you test drive all the cars you are considering, more than once, to make sure you are getting what you want. if you are planning on getting into the after market arena the sentra is definitely the way to go because with a couple mods it will be a sick car. good luck and happy hunting.

thanks for that jbarbaresi. I forgot about mentioning the GTI as a possible consideration also. I am still open to what others have to say/think about the Sentra or any of the other cars I mentioned.

Don't notice the plastic scratch easily. Do noticed that it's a bad idea to let your mates put sun screen on in the car or before they get into the car.

The plastic I mean is under the shifter, the door skins and behind the seat belts...it doesn't respond well to scuffing.

i don't know if you mean actual scratches or scuff marks. not much you can do for scratches but try armor-all cleaning wipes for the scuffs.

The scuffing cleans right out for me so far.

That is for sure! But I love RWD, and I kinda don't want another FWD, they just aren't as fun! lolz, I would love the G37 sport, but it is just WAYYY outta my price range.

Can't get a RWD Camry though. the IS isn't that bad at least you get stuff you can't in a Toyota of similar price.
