Post

Hi all,

After much frustration and aggravation I am about to give up. I have a 2006 Altima SL. It comes with the Bose system and the SAT button already there. I have read that the SAT means it's already pre-wired and now all I need is a receiver.

First question, is that all I need is the receiver?

Second, I went to the local guy who installs alarms and radios to see if he could do this. He had a receiver but it was the kind that mounts on the dashboard and I still need to tune in via FM radio. I got rid of the satellite radio in my 2000 Altima for that very reason, hated the FM part of it. The minute you travelled more than 2 miles you had to mess around and change the tuning station...I'd rather have it where I can press the SAT button and there it is.

So I didn't want that receiver that mounted on the dashboard and called around to a few other places. Each and every single other person told me I needed this to be done ONLY by the dealer. It was a dealer part and only the dealer could do this.

Now I've read on these forums that people have bought these receivers through Grubbs and installed themselves. My question is if I buy it from Grubbs is it compatible with my car and how do I even install it? It seems the local radio installers don't even know what I'm talking about and direct me straight to the dealer.

I'm afraid to purchase something online and have it not be what I need for $200 but also I'm not so sure I want to head to the dealer and pay $600 for this either...it hardly seems worth the hassle.

Can anyone just give me a step by step, what I need to be able to just press the SAT button and be done with it??Thanks in advance,Nicole
