04 g35x crack in rear subframe. anyone got experience with this?

Ok, well my mechanic has informed me of a crack in the rear aluminum subframe on my 04 g35x sedan. After some limited research and going off his experience it seems to be a somewhat common issue. Has anyone else had this issue? I haven't seen anything about a recall. Anyone got any knowledge or experience with this? Hard neutral drops? Hasn't been crashed, I know that much. Sadly, it's a used car so the only history I've got on it is a clean carfax and just what I've experienced in the last 6 months since buying it.

I've no experience with that problem on G, but do know of a BMW owner who has a similar problem. It was fixed with some quality welding . Not just anyone should do this, you need a pro.
