hey im actually new to this site i just found it and i wanted to know if anyone has some good info about a sr20det swap for my stock qr25 and well if its worth it i heard its a good choice. and well at the same time if i were to sell this car do u think i would get more for a stock motor or a sr20 cause either way my motors blown and i have to get a new one. and i might be selling it so i can start a drift car project but im still on the fence. so any input on any of this would be greatly appreciated thanx

Welcome to NICO!

No need for two threads.

Anyway, there have been a few SR20DET swaps in SE-R/Specs, but the current favorite is actually the VQ35DE (Altima/Maxima V6). It takes roughly the same amount of work, but you get a younger, torquier engine. Do a search for VQ35 swap or VQ35DE swap and you'll find all the info you need.

IMO, a boosted QR is still the best route, but if you want raw speed, the VQ swap is probably the way to it.

Personally, I'd slap I/H/E and a good suspension/wheel/tire setup on the Spec, then start putting money together for an actual project car. And no, if you sell, the car probably won't fetch a higher price with an SR20DET.

I agree with NTN for the most part however if it were me and I had to get a new motor I would prolly swap in a VQ just because there aren't as many of them floating around.

is it as easy as some the forums say it is or do i have to buy that kit from forced induction racing? i mean i know itll be tough and i got the directions from forced induction, and how much a vq motor and transmission cost together.

Heard the VQ'ed B15's with just the motor run 13's at the track.

Boosting the QR, I'd buy a kit. It's easier that way and probably evens out cost-wise.

As for the VQ, looks like the posts have disappeared during server work/problems. Get in touch with a member by the name of Trav4011. He was the first and still is the only VQ swap expert I've heard of.

And yes, I've seen the video of a VQ'd B15 running a 13 flat with just an exhaust and maybe a header.

I say go with a VQ, good power all over the RPMs and can still take some nitrous if you really want to boogie. Starting my swap soon.

does anyone know of the easiest way to get out the stock vq25de from my sentra without a lift. i heard of jacking it up and dropping the subframe but that sounds diff. or is it easier to hoist it out wit an engine lift. and what exactly should i do b4 like undo all the lines and **** and am im taking the engine and trans out in one shot right? some info on this would be awesome thanx

Stock QR25DE, just for clarity.

Without an engine lift it's going to be difficult to say the least. You need to unhook everything. If you're doing the VQ swap, I think you keep the QR's 6spd. I wouldn't try this swap on my own unless I had another car and plenty of garage space, money, and time. Seriously, find Travis. He's on a bunch of boards, so if you can't find his info here, Google him (he always goes by Trav4011). If anyone is going to know how to take that QR out cleanly and as easily as possible, it's him.
