Just about all my debts are paid, I wont have a car note soon.

Looking forward to the extra money, and plan on finally builidng up my 240 a bit.

However, I need to take care of my Sentra. I am about to roll over 40k miles, and don't want to have issues with the precat.

I don't plan on buying a header right now, but want to have the capability to do so later if I so choose.

Whatever I do has to be fairly cost-effective and quiet. Performance increases would be nice, but I do not want that exhaust hum some of my fellow SE-R/Spec owners seem to be so proud of (Loud cars are annoying).

Don't get me wrong.. if I get on the gas and it starts to get loud around 3.7k rpm thats all well and good. But I don't want it to be loud for DD driving.

Your options are either get a header and a nice catback with a big resonator or gut the precat and use the stock catback or an aftermarket one with, again, a big resonator.

I did a drop-in header and the increase in noise level is not noticeable if you leave everything else stock. No sound at idle justa a litle bit bigger at full throttle.

I agree with you on loud exhaust being annoying. I bet most Spec exhaust are just loud, you are probably goin to just have to get a nice size resonator to muffle it.

Nissan's got issues with pre-cats, period. The QG needs them all the time, I've done them on VQ30s and QRs, also.

I've got a similar question. I remember hearing alot about butterfly valve issues and pre-cat issues. I'm helping my buddy install a S/C on his QR soon. He wants to run a Nismo header and cat-back. I figure that should clear up the pre-cat, but any idea on how to fix the valve issue?

yeah, the butterfly screws thing is a pretty quick job, plenty of writeups on it.

I appreciate the feedback, I suppose I should have been more specific.

Anyone running any setups that run pretty clean/quiet right now? brands/models of equipment? Anyone have a resonator/header they would go back and not buy if they had the chance to get something else?
