Another update: the car will sometimes overheat now. Qx4 is ususally fine driving a couple miles around town, but almost guarenteed will overheat after getting off the highway. However, as soon as you get back on the highway, the temp gauge goes down and returns to normal. This is, again, directly related to engine speed. If I'm sitting at a stoplight and it begins to overheat, I can put it in neutral and give it some gas and the temp gauge will return to normal. Stumped!

What ended up happening with your QX4? Mine is doing the same thing. What is crazy is have read through so many posts on this QX4/Pathfinder problem and all of them end with no real answer.

It ended up being a crack in the block- a hairline crack. I’ve never seen anything like it, but it explains a lot. I could just never get it to test in any way to show the block was cracked, but it makes sense with the symptoms.

Wow, cracked blocks are rare. Related to the accident? Any external leaks or ???

Not sure, but could definitely see it be related to the accident. It has had overheating issues in the past, so the accident may have been the final straw. Weird it drove fine for about 2 weeks and then started to have issues.
