I hope I'm wrong because that is a complicated replacement that involves cycling in and out the heater core, etc, mess that I can't even begin to do myself. I just demoted myself, I know but right now I wanted to know if anyone had problems with this that they can share advice as to a solution. I tested out the fuses and relays. The Amplifier is not found and therefore untested.
---
Where is the AC Motor fan amplifier on the '02 I35? Did it change from 4th generation?
---
It's quicker than tearing open my passenger dash to find things that are working.
Thanks kindly
Matt in Hilliard

Hit Google and look up replace cabin filter. Remove glove box/lower dash assembly and it's right there. It's only 6 screws and pretty easy. Oh yea, replace the cabin filter while you're at it.

Thanks Mark. Will do when the sun comes up! But - what is the fan/motor combo in the right of slide #5 here: http://users.stic.net/dprice/i35/
If that is the cabin AC fan motor, I'm happy!

That's right, and towards the back of the blower motor is the Fan Control Amplifier. I suggest you do a diagnostic first before replacing components. Refer to the link below, starting on HA-66.

2nd pic in step 6 shows a good shot of the motor you're after. Then, the amplifier is located where loystock said. Not that difficult after all. ;)

Got to the motor no problem. It works if you give it +10VDC. So that is emliminated. The amp seems to be the problem but the thermal cutout diode is still intact (0.01Ohm) The MOSFET I''m less sure how to acurately test, I don't have any low resistances though. Anyone more familiar with this? I read http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/fix-th ... issan.html but it doesn't address the MOSFETs as well as the thermal diodes. My case is not a short - it doesn't spin at all, so I have an open circuit somewhere!

If you're getting proper voltage to the amp, faulty amp is most probable IMO.
