01 Sentra 2.0 cam shaft sensor location

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

I’’ having a issue finding the location or a sensor to buy for that matter. Anyone know where it’s located? 2001 Sentra se 2.0 was my brothers and I got it when he passed. I have fixed a lot on this car.

Was running fine, went to move it.

Car cranks but will not start. Is not getting fire, engine light with cam sensor code showing. I located the crank shaft sensor but can not find the cam sensor nor a sensor for sale. Anyone know about this?

Thanks,

Josh

The cam sensor on the SR20 is an opto-wheel inside the distributor. If it isn't just dirty, I don't think anyone sells the sensor separately so I'm pretty sure you need to replace the distributor. The distributor p/n will be 22100-7J400 or 22100-7J401 (same part, the number supersedes).

PS- RockAuto has several brands of reman for under $200, you probably won't do much better than that. OE list is around $500 and it's actually a Mitsubishi part with a Nissan sticker.
