After restoring an '86 BMW 325e, completely rebuilding an '84 Porsche and owning and tinkering with numerous other Euro rear drive compacts I decided to give Japan a try. I started researching various rear drive tuners and decided on a Kouki, which took chasing the same guy down three times in a week and quite literally begging each him time before I was able to drive it home. Still stuck on the whole restoration over modification bit I returned it to almost perfectly stock condition (save for the primer job it came with) before I changed my mind in favor of an S13. It wasn't hard to find someone willing to trade cash and a hatchback for my S14a, but the '92 lacked many of it's underhood necessities. That left me with four choices: The Honda CBR600 in winter--Nope. The weekend-only 944--Nu-uh. The wife's Mercedes--Not a chance. Or...her simply fierce '04 Cavalier. Yup, that's three months in a bone stock, automatic, front drive, domestic... Thank God for the Trading Post! I noticed the '93 SE coupe and bought it later that day. By the weekend my restoration roots were fed up with the completely trashed interior so stripped the door panels, gauges, center console, mirrors, window cranks, dash and most of the controls out of the hatch and into the *once* SE they went. The radio, speakers, mirror and window motors were quickly sold to my RB20-in-a-92 Hatch friend. Since I had already decided to sell the Porsche I removed it's limited ed. steering wheel and welded it to the hub socket I had cut from the SE's. I also installed a MOMO shift knob atop a B&M short shifter and ran 3" pipe to an A Spec muffler. For now that is all, but I plan on doing a little more after I sell the 944.
