1994 Q45t Fan control not working

I turn on the fan ,heat or A/C. The fan only works on high.I looked around for fan relays underneath the glove box. I saw 2 ,one was light blue I replaced it. Nothing, the second was actually in the fan box with these little metal prongs sticking out into the fan box. Does this have anything to do with the problem ?If not ..just what am I looking for? thanks , James

I take it "silver rectangular object with two screws and a plug in the center of it" in the picture is the Darlington widget aka speed control gremlin. Thanks for the pictures ... I just wanted to be sure I am on the same page. James

I did a search in the NICO forums but it didn't return any results. Is that the thing pictured in Jesdas post "the silver thing" in the picture?
