Replacement or mod for cruddy timing chain guides?

Howdy, folks.

I'm in the middle of a rebuild on my wife's 1990 240sx (with the 12-valve KA24E) and I really don't want to use those crappy plastic timing chain guides. Are there any alternatives, like guides from another car that will work or something aftermarket? I really couldn't care less if it makes the engine a little noisier so long as the guides don't go into self-destruct mode on a whim.

Thanks!

I may be mistaken, but I think Nissan redesigned and beefed up those parts. Can anyone else confirm this?

Nissan and just about every aftermarket manufacture upgraded. The tension side is now metal reinforced with plastic chain rub.
