Is it possible to use the aux input for the satellite option for an iPod?

Anyone even thought about doing something like this? I use a cassette adapter now. Thanks in advance.

First let me say welcome Rich. Be sure to check out the rest of NICO as well as the G35 section.

Now, I have not heard of anyone doing an ipod conversion for the sat button, but I think it would be possible. You may want to try throwing your question up in our car audio forum which can be find on the right side of the page.

By the way, tell us a little about your G35 and feel free to host pics of it in our members ride forum.

Happy posting.

There is a company who makes adapters for BMW's for IPods. There is a cord that links in to the system behind the dash, and the IPod goes in the glove box. You control the IPod with the standard entertainment system. I am not sure if they make them for G35's (though I'm pretty sure SOMEONE does). And I can't remember the company, either. Sorry.

And I doubt that an aux specifically for satelite radio would work with an IPod. Sat radio uses an intermediary decoder (between the dead unit and the receiver) to translate the signal into something the unit can recognise. I think that data formats would not match.

The sat button on the G35 is left for aux use. Most people hook up a sat system and it is an option on the car and that is why the button is there and titled sat. But I know I've read of other people using the sat button for other uses. There is nothing hooked up to it, it just sits there awaiting something to do.

There shouldn't be any problem in chroming the wheels.

You can also try an FM transmitter for the wireless setup. $33 at walmart, other places may have 'em too. Belkin is the brand i'm familiar w/. Just plug it into the headphone jack set it the the desired station (ex. fm 89.1) set your radio to the same station and you got your set up. It's digital and you shouldn't loose any/much quality.

I got one for my wife's Bimmer and it was useless. Allways best to have it hard wired.

I know guys on the Lexus forums are wiring them into their CD changer channel. That's what I'm planning on doing with my car. If sombody gets the diagram from the FSM it shouldn't be hard at all to figure it out.

I just got myself the PAC interface and was wonding how you installed it. I was able to get to the passenger side of the radio by lowering the glove compartment, but couldn't reach behind the stereo. I've seen instructions on how to remove the entire stereo from the climate display/clock area, but didn't want to get that involved. Thanks in advance.

I have a 2003 g35 sedan and I do not have the sat button (my car is not xm pre-wired). Does any one know of a way to hard wire in a ipod?

This over-rides the sat function, my car does not have this function. My car is one of the few that is not wired for sat ( I believe only early 2003 models)
