cd player error killing me softly)

i have a 92 q with a 97 bose unit with single cd. this weekend it would not play any cd's and gave an "cd err" message. does this mean thats it dead or is there something i could do to reset it. if not can anyone fix it. please help it takes the enjoyment out driving.

Ther should be a reset button the size of a pin head on the face somewhere to reset, if that doesn't work and you're using a CD that you know played well before, it is most likely the laser alignment.

FYI - The older Q's head unit was at more of a "laid back" angle in the dash and the 97 and up (if you look) is more level.

You may also need to clean the laser...

I clean mine when it starts skipping... its a CD iwth little brushes on it and it sweeps away dust and such..... You can get em at wally world for like $5.....
