I currently have a single cam KA24DE MAF on the car. I know there are other upgrades such as:Z32 MAFCobra Stang MAFQ45 MAF...and i think a few others.

Id assume having the single cam KA MAF is holding me somewhat back in performance. What is the best MAF to go with? And to install it all I have to do is cut the current MAF wiring and splice in the new connector correct?

id go with the z32 mafs, unless you have all the piping and throttle body the same size, then do the q45 mafs.

If you are not reaching your MAFS limit and have no intention of doing so in the future I wouldn't bother with getting a new one. If you need one for future z32 is easiest route.

SOHC KA MAFS to SR is just follow the same wire colors. Black, white, black with a white stripe.

Ever consider not even effing around with a MAFS and instead of laying down that much money, get a MAPS unit? Considering z32 mafs and other conversion parts can cost you what another 100-200, then slap in an AFC, that's about what 300-400? Take that money and get a MAPS unit for a little more. HKS discontinued their VPC but you can still hunt around for it on ebay.

sorry new to the electronic gizmo namesVPC is ???I was thinking MAF translator so that I can run an open BOV with out popping every time I shift. Also How would I know the limit of my MAF? Curious to know.

I've heard of the MAPS units but haven't ever come across them. Do you have a link?

MAF- Mass AirFlow sensor

MAP- Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor

they both tell the engine how much air is coming in so it can inject the proper amount of fuel. The basic difference is that the MAF runs off airflow so it has to have something that slightly impedes that airflow in order to measure it. The MAP measures how much air is in the manifold with more or less a pressure sensor (in reality, its more complicated than that)

The stock MAF sends a voltage signal to the ecu based on how much air is flowing, so it reaches its limit when more air continues to flow and the voltage reading stays the same. From what i have heard, this seems to happen around 240rwhp and about 12 lbs of boost.

Your blow-off valve pops everytime you shift because that is what it is supposed to do. I releases air either back into the airbox or to the atmosphere so the turbo doesn't send pressurized air into a brick wall (the closed throttle plate when you let off to shift). Without the blow off valve, the closed throttle would cause the compressor wheel to slow down, stop, and even spin backwards (compressor surge), which can be detrimental to the health of your poor little t25.

By the way, in ka24De the D means DOHC, and since you have a 92 im pretty sure you should have a ka24e MAF

BTW how many aggies does it take to scew in a lightbuld?

kkekeisenlol, NOT EVEN HOOKEM HORNS!?!?!

WHOOP!!

Thanks for the info. I actually never had a KA24E, I have a Blacktop SR20...ok so I cheated, lol. Well I plan for 400-450rwhp daily. I currently run stock boost because I'm waiting to upgrade my fuel pump.

KA24E's only appeared in 89 and 90 for the 240. DE's appeared thereafter. So if you've a 92, you've got a DOHC MAF and want one from an 89 or 90 if you're going to do a stock sr replacement not the one from the 92.

He means pop as in backfire because you run rich in between shifts when venting to atmosphere. If you are concerned about it recirculate.

So which bevice would be better for my 400hp goal?the Q45 or Z32 or Cobra???

q45 has the largest diameter, then z32 has a higher max than the cobra.

ok...so heres the question...if you do put the z32 maf on what do you need to do to the car? i would think its a little harder then just puttin it in, wireing it up, and lettin it go from there.

get proper hosing to the turbo, afc or something to trick the ecu into thinking it's a stock maf, the appropriate filter, and the plug for the new maf.

1. Z32 Mafs has a much larger diameter end, so it will not fit in your intake pipe. You need a reducer ($5 at home depot) and some zebra clamps to make it fit. I got a new filter with mine so I don't even know if I could have used my old adapter, but maybe someone else can field that.

2. I have heard nothing but bad stories about people running the VPC on our engines. I have talked with 3 guys who run them, and they all say that no matter how much time they spend tuning it, they have all sorts of idle/stalling problems, running way rich/lean, etc... MAP definitely makes more sense as a way of reading intake air than MAF, but I don't know of any people that really like their HKS VPC. I wouldn't go MAP unless I was using a full standalone like Haltech or the AEM coming out.
